  • Sarah and Shawn Dukes of Tell City announce the birth of their son, Kaleb Jackson Dukes, Aug. 22, 2016.

    He weighed 8 pounds and 12 ounces and was 20 ½ inches long.

    Kaleb was welcomed home by his brother, Bryce, 1. The mother is the former Sarah Cartwright.

    Grandparents are Barbara and Donny Farina of Tell City, and Rebecca Cartwright and Donny Cartwright, both of Hawesville, Ky.

    Great-grandparents include Opal and Mickey Cartwright of Hawesville, Charles and Loriene Dukes of Tell City and Martha Young of Tell City.

  • Stephanie King and Nathan Schipp, of Evanston, announce their engagement and upcoming wedding.

    The bride-to-be is the daughter of Barb and Dave King of Santa Claus. The future groom is the son of Sue and Gary Schipp of Ferdinand.

    The bride-to-be is a 2011 graduate of Heritage Hills High School and earned her Bachelor’s degree in Health Sciences from Western Kentucky University. She is currently employed as a medical assistant at One Health OBGYN Clinic in Owensboro, Ky.

  • SAINT MEINRAD – Three men professed solemn vows as Benedictine monks of Saint Meinrad Archabbey in a ceremony on Aug. 15 in the Archabbey Church at St. Meinrad.

    Becoming full members of the Saint Meinrad community were Br. Peduru Fonseka OSB, Br. James Jensen OSB and Br. William Sprauer OSB.

    Br. Peduru, 33, is a native of Colombo, Sri Lanka. He was a member of Our Lady of Fatima Church in Battaramulla and attended St. Joseph’s College in Colombo, both in Sri Lanka.

  • Mary and Gordie Aders will celebrate 50 years of marriage Sept. 3, from 1 to 4 p.m. at the Depot. The event will be hosted their daughters Gloria Whitlock and Kathy Brenton.

    They were originally married Oct. 1, 1966.

    Their four children are Gloria (Dan) Whitlock, of Roswell, Ga., Kathy Brenton of Brownsburg, the late LeRoy Aders and the late Dawn Zoglman.  They have 13 grandchildren and six surrogate grandchildren.

    They are both retired from General Electric.

    They ask for no gifts, but the presence of family and friends.

  • Samantha and Robby Pannett announce the birth of their daughter, Audrey Danielle Pannett. She was born July 6, 2016, at Perry County Memorial Hospital. She weighed 7 pounds and 1 ounce and was 20 inches long.

    Maternal grandparents are Cheryl Peter and the late Larry Peter. Paternal grandparents are Patty and Dave Pannett.

    Great-grandparents are Jeanette Pannett and Eva Knable. Great-great-grandmother is Verena Blanford.

  • Amanda Dickens and Robert Doughty, both of Cannelton, announce their engagement and upcoming wedding.

    The bride-to-be is the daughter of Robin and John Smitson of Tell City. The future groom is the son of Mike and Barb Doughty and Sandy and Bud Burst, all of Cannelton.

    The bride-to-be is employed with The Hearth. The future groom is employed at Best Chairs in Cannelton.

  • Kari Lauren Gladish and Steven Wesley Byers II announce their engagement and upcoming wedding.

    The bride-to-be is the daughter of Tina and Rob Gladish of Tell City. She is a graduate of Tell City High School, Vincennes University and Owensboro Community Technical College. She is employed at Santa Claus Family Dentistry as an office manager.

  • FERDINAND – The Sisters of St. Benedict of Ferdinand will deconstruct Madonna Hall, which has been vacant since 2000, when the sisters closed Marian Heights Academy, a girls’ boarding school.

    The five-story building opened in 1970 as a residence hall for Academy students on the grounds of Monastery Immaculate Conception.
