  • HAWESVILLE, Ky. – Coming this May, Union Baptist church will host a new marriage wellness program, Grace Marriage, and would like to invite the community to participate. Pastor Andrew Hunt said, “We believe marriage is a foundational institution of society and it has fallen on and times in our day.” The idea behind the program is to adopt a proactive approach to strengthening marriage.

  • Cliff and Jane Miller of Tell City announce the engagement and upcoming marriage of their daughter, Emily Miller, to Kyle James, the son of Larry and Marlene James of Leopold.

  • CANNELTON – The Cannelton Gospel Tabernacle Church will host the 33rd annual Ministerial Convention on Friday, Saturday and Sunday, April 7, 8 and 9. Services on Friday and Saturday begin at 7 p.m. Sunday’s service at 10 a.m. Friday’s speaker will be The Rev. Tommy Shutt, Saturday’s speaker will be The Rev. Tim Dotson and Sunday’s speaker is The Rev. Jeff Varner. 

    Also on Sunday, the church will be celebrating 50 years at the present location.

  • The parents of Sara Williams and Joey Foster of Mt. Vernon, Ill., announce the couple’s engagement and upcoming marriage.

    The bride-to-be’s is the daughter of Diann and Ronnie Williams of Tell City. The future groom is the son of Toni and Bob Foster of Herrin, Ill.

    Williams graduated from Tell City High School in 2003.

    She is also a graduate of Ivy Tech Community College with an associate degree in early childhood education.

  • EVANSTON – St. John’s Lutheran Church near Evanston will hold special Holy Week services April 9-16. 

    A Palm Sunday celebration of Jesus’ triumphal entry into Jerusalem will be held April 9, at 9:30 a.m. 

    A Maundy Thursday Service will be held at 6:30 p.m. April 13, with a meal served at 5:30 p.m.  

  • TELL CITY – BE Ministry will host a Bible discussion the second Tuesday each month. The next discussion will be held Tuesday, April 11, at 6 p.m. at Noble’s IGA Cafe. The group will discuss Genesis chapters 9-13. There is no fee. Guests are encouraged to take their favorite Bible, insights and questions.

  • Rachel and Michael Garmer of Jonesborough, Tenn., announce the birth of their daughter, Tali Ray Garmer, on Feb. 8, 2017, at 1:03 p.m. at Franklin Woods Community Hospital in Johnson City, Tenn. She weighed 5 pounds and 3 ounces, and was 18 ½ inches long.

    Maternal grandparents are Dea Goad and the late Ralph Goad of Tell City. Paternal grandparents are Jackie and Shawn Garmer of Jonesborough, Tenn.

    Great-grandparents include Andrea Hempfling Keller of Cannelton. The mother is the former Rachel Goad.

  • FERDINAND – Sisters of St. Benedict will offer a program, “The Book of Glory: Reflections on John 13-21,” on Saturday, March 18, from 9:45 a.m. Eastern time until 3:30 p.m. at Monastery Immaculate Conception in Ferdinand.

    The presenter will be Father Eugene Hensell OSB, a monk of Saint Meinrad Archabbey.
