  • Agape vacation Bible school ends Friday
    CANNELTON – The Agape Community Church, 101 Taylor St. in Cannelton, will continue its “Journey to the Center of the Heart,” vacation Bible school today and Friday.
    The school is for students preschool through fifth grade. Sessions will be held from 9 a.m. to noon each day and will include a teaching time, crafts and a snack.
    Transportation can be provided for any child wanting to attend by calling the church at 547-2772.

  • Children from St. Augustine Church and other local parishes participated in “Go The Distance!” Bible school June 13 through June 17.

  • The parents of Sarah Rae Carver and Derek Robert Smith announce their children’s engagement and approaching marriage.

    The bride-elect is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Carver of Corydon. She is a 2005 graduate of Corydon High School and a 2009 graduate of Indiana University.
    She works as an eighth-grade science teacher.
    Mr. Smith is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Kerry Smith of Corydon. He is a 2005 graduate of Corydon High School and a 2006 graduate of Vincennes University.
    He is a welder and fabricator.

  • Stephen Nathanael Heeke
    Brent and Vicky Heeke of Dugger announce the birth of their son, Stephen Natha-nael Heeke, Tuesday, June 7, 2011.
    The infant weighed 7 pounds, 5 ounces and was 181⁄2 inches long.
    Mrs. Heeke is the former Vicky Wood. Stephen has six brothers, John, Daniel, Benjamin, Joseph, David and Michael.
    Grandparents are David and Becky Wood of Sugar Land, Texas, and Frank and Martha Heeke of Evanston.

  • PERRY COUNTY – Are you ready to help stuff a bus to help families in need? United Way of Perry County will sponsor the fifth Stuff the Bus school-supply drive July 29-30 for area students in need.
    United Way, Wal-Mart and area volunteers will once again join together to solicit donations of much needed school supplies for all Perry County and North Spencer County school corporations.

  • TELL CITY – United First Methodist Church on 10th and Mozart streets and St. Paul Catholic Church on Main and Jefferson streets are together planning for a “Son Surf: Beach Bash” vacation Bible school during the week of June 27 through June 30.
    Children ages 4 and 5, and school children who have completed Kindergarten by June will attend United First Methodist Church from 9:15 to 11:15 a.m. Children in grades first through fourth, completing these grade levels by June, will attend at St. Paul from 9 to 11 a.m.
