  • TELL CITY – St. Paul Catholic Church will host its summer picnic in the park Sunday. The event is open to the public and all are encouraged to come and enjoy food, games and more for adults and children. The park is located at 700 Main Street, across from the church.
    There will be grilled chicken and roast beef dinners served in the Parish Hall or available for take out. Serving will begin at 11 a.m., right after the 10 a.m. Mass in the church, and will continue until sold out.

  • Gaylord and Wanda Wittmer of Tell City will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary Saturday, June 23, 2012.

    Mr. Wittmer and the former Wanda Solbrig were married June 30, 1962, at St. Augustine Catholic Church in Leopold. Their attendants were Carolyn (Solbrig) Poehlein, Norma (Solbrig) Rogier, Carolyn (Wittmer) Luecke, Charles Albert James, Marvin Rogier and Bernard Luecke.

  • Phil and Phyllis Junker will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary at 2 p.m. Saturday, June 9, 2012, at Stardust Hills Community Center, 1000 Fry Road, Cloverdale. The event will be hosted by their daughter, Michelle Junker Fields.

    Mr. Junker married the former Phyllis Teschmacher June 9, 1962, at the First Methodist Church in Rockville.
    The couple are the parents of two children, Erik Junker of Danville and Michelle Fields of Ellettsville. They also have five grandchildren, Denver, Molly, Kennedy, Meredith and Allison.

  • Brittany Nicole Persinger and Logan Jay Terry, along with their families, announce their engagement and approaching marriage. 

    The bride-elect is the daughter of Charlotte Per-singer and John Waninger of Tell City and Rick Sr. and Barbara Persinger of St. Anthony. She is a 2004 graduate of Perry Central High School and a 2011 graduate of Vincennes University, with a dual bachelor’s degree in elementary and special education. She is a fourth-grade teacher at William Tell Elementary in Tell City.

  • Richard and Janet Ball and Richard and Loretta Faye Billman announce the engagement and approaching marriage of their children, Jamie L. (Harding) Collignon of Cannelton and Timothy H. Ball of Tobinsport.

    The bride-elect is the daughter of Loretta Faye (Harris) Billman of Allegan, Mich., and the late James W. Harding.
    She attended Perry Central Community School and Marathon High School in Marathon, Fla. She is employed at Frederick Sheet Metal in Tell City as an heating, ventilation and air conditioning mechanic.

  • Alicia Ricklef and Michael Hawa announce their engagement and approaching marriage.

    The bride-elect is the daughter of Shirley Ricklef of Dale and the late Rev. Ricklef. Mr. Hawa is the son of Mr. and Mrs. A. Michael Hawa of Newburgh and the grandson of Gloria Wahl of Cannelton.
    Both the bride-elect and Mr. Hawa are graduates of the University of Southern Indiana with bachelor degrees in nursing. They are currently pursuing nurse practitioner degrees.

  • A ribbon cutting was held April 26 to celebrate the Southern Indiana Resource Solutions remodeling of their facility at 31st and Tell Streets in Tell City. 

  • TELL CITY – The monthly meeting of the Twilight Towers Tenant Council convened May 16 with President Joyce Richardt presiding.
    May birthdays were Marie Collins, Nancy Lyons, Justin Baysinger, Mary Holpp, Omia Linne, Mag Karney, Raymond Greathouse, Loretta Schroeder, McKinley Roberts, Kathleen Ludwig, Joyce Richardt, Betty Kessans, Cheryl Tanzy, Ambrose Richardt and Lester Solbrig.

  • TELL CITY – A class of William Tell Elementary School sixth-graders recently received a high marking from the “We the People” program.

  • Mr. and Mrs. John Meus-er of Princeville, Ill., and Mr. and Mrs. James Thompson of Tell City announce the engagement and approaching marriage of their children, Molly Ann Meuser and Dirk James Thompson.

    The bride-elect is a 2001 graduate of Princeville High School and a 2005 Southern Illinois University-Edwards-ville graduate with a bachelor’s degree in psychology.
    She earned her master’s degree in clinical adult psychology in 2007 from SIUE. She works at Center for Life Solutions as a licensed professional counselor.
