  • BRISTOW – St. Joseph’s Holy Family Inc., an apostolate for the renewal of Catholic family life within the Archdiocese of Indianapolis, has announced First Saturday Devotions for Saturday at God’s Country LLC, 25992 Cottonwood Road in Perry County.
    The Rev. Dominic Petan, a fourth-year theology seminarian of the Diocese of Lafayette-in-Indiana, will continue the series of presentations by seminarians on Pope John Paul II’s Encyclical Letter Mother of the Redeemer.

  • FERDINAND – The Sisters of St. Benedict of Ferdinand have accepted Beth Fritsch of Cincinnati, Ohio, into the postulancy, the first stage of incorporation into the religious community. She entered the community in a simple ceremony Aug. 21.

    Postulant Beth is the daughter of the late Joseph Fritsch and Mary Arlene Fritsch. She has two older brothers and one younger sister. She earned three degrees from Xavier University in Cincinnati, a bachelor of arts in theology, a master of education and a master of business administration.

  • Little Pigeon to host gospel sing
    LAMAR – Little Pigeon Baptist Church, off Indiana 245 near Lamar, will host a gospel sing at 7 p.m. Sept. 10.
    River City Quartet will be the special guests. Refreshments will be served at 6:30 p.m. The public is encouraged to attend.

  • TELL CITY – Werner Drug Store, the only independent drug store in Perry County, is continuing the tradition of family business with the addition of its newest pharmacist, Brielle Harth. Harth, daughter of current owner Brad Harth, has joined her father in the business, which has been locally owned since its opening in 1934.

    The younger Harth graduated from Purdue University College of Pharmacy in May and passed her Indiana Board of Pharmacy certification in July. She began working at the pharmacy immediately.

  • FERDINAND – The Breastfeeding and Parenting Support Group La Leche League is meeting at a new time, date and place.
    The group will gather at 10 a.m. the third Tuesday of each month from September until December at 1035 Virginia St., Ferdinand.
    The group usually gathers in Ireland at the St. Mary’s Community Center next to St. Mary’s Catholic Church.
    The La Leche League is a support group for all pregnant and breast-feeding mothers and for all mothers who previously breast-fed any children for any length of time.

  • TELL CITY – An open house to celebrate the 80th birthday of the Malone twins, Beula (Malone) James and Eula (Malone) Smith, will be held from 1 to 3 p.m. Sept. 11 at the Union Hall (Democratic Headquarters) in Tell City.
    The two women were born Sept. 17, 1931, and invited friends and family to help them celebrate the occasion.

  • Madison Marie Sisley
    Waylon and Erin Sisley of Grandview announce the birth of their daughter, Madison Marie Sisley, Tuesday June 21, 2011 at Memorial Hospital in Jasper.
    The infant weighed 7 pounds, 6 ounces and was 21 inches long.
    Mrs. Sisley is the former Erin Ubelhor.
    Madison was baptized July 31 at St. Martin’s Catholic Church in Chrisney. Deacon Mike Waninger officiated. Godparents are Jared Ubelhor of rural Birdseye and Jennifer Aldridge of Indianapolis.

  • Joe and Gayle Litherland of Tell City announce the engagement and approaching marriage of their daughter, Lacy Litherland, to Adam Jones, son of Larry Jones of Indianapolis and Sherri Jones of Owensboro, Ky.

    The bride-elect is a 2002 graduate of Tell City High School and works at Perry County Memorial Hospital and Main Event Cheer and Gymnastics in Tell City.
    Mr. Jones is a 2001 graduate of Tell City High School. He works in maintenance inventory at ATTC Manufacturing in Tell City.

  • Dave and Laverne Peter and Chris and Karen Gayer, all of Tell City, announce the engagement and approaching marriage of their son, Todd Gayer of Bloomington, to Jamie Barnes of Bloomington, daughter of Richard and Cheri Dover of Godfrey, Ill.

    The bride-elect is a 1998 graduate of Alton Senior High School in Alton and graduated from Southern Illinois University Edwardsville with a degree in human resources.
    She is currently employed at Indiana University as a compensation consultant.

  • Mr. and Mrs. Kevin Kleaving of Tell City and Mr. and Mrs. Brad Henrickson of Tell City announce the engagement and approaching marriage of their children, Laura Beth Kleaving and Todd Michael Henrickson.

    The bride-elect is a 2004 graduate of Tell City High School and a 2008 graduate of Spencerian College. She is a radiologic technologist at Tri-State Orthopedic Surgeons.
    Mr. Henrickson is 2005 graduate of Tell City High School and currently attends Owensboro Community and Technical College. He works at ATTC Manufacturing.
