  • Seth and Samantha DuPont of rural Tell City announce the birth of their son, Joel Daniel DuPont, Thursday, Aug. 23, 2012, at Perry County Memorial Hospital in Tell City.
    The infant weighed 9 pounds, 14 ounces and was 201⁄2 inches long.
    Mrs. DuPont is the former Samantha Hagedorn.
    Grandparents are Joe and Marilyn Hagedorn of rural Tell City and Daniel and Claudia DuPont of Gatchel.
    Great-grandparents are Pauline Gogel of Fulda, Raymond and Lucille Howell of Gatchel and Raphael and Vivian DuPont of Tell City.

  • Regina Schaefer was the winner of the St. Paul Catholic Church August quilt raffle. The quilt was pieced by Jean Blue and was quilted by St. Paul Quilters.

  • Tamara Lynn Germany of Fort Pierce, Fla., and Donald Harrison Van Hoosier of Santa Claus were united in marriage during a ceremony Saturday, July 14, 2012, at North Hutchenson Island, Fla.

  • In 1962, Margaret (May) Schank won the prettiest dress for Cannelton’s 125th anniversary celebration of the Sisters of the Swish.

  • PERRY COUNTY – The Teen Advisory Group is a 20-member advisory panel which was formed 8 years ago to ensure the ongoing development of teen services, materials and programming at the library, to attract teens to the library, and to get their input regarding ways to meet the needs of teens in the community.

  • CANNELTON – To kick off Cannelton’s celebration of its 175th anniversary and annual Heritage Fest, the city will host a parade at 2 p.m. Sunday.
    Line up will begin at 1 p.m. on Old Highway 237. Categories for the parade include commercial, band, civic and community. Certificates will be given to all participants and awards will be presented for first, second and third place in each category. For safety reasons, the community asks that candy be handed out to children, not thrown from floats.

  • CANNELTON – For Cannelton’s 175th anniversary and annual Heritage Fest, an old-time fashion show will be held at 2 p.m. Oct. 13 at the Covered Wagon following the Miss Heritage Fest pageant.
    Men, women and children of all ages are invited to participate in the event by dressing in period clothing from the 1800s to the 1960s.
    Categories are best lady, best girl, best man, best boy, oldest participant and who traveled the most distance.

  • Jamie (Harding) Collignon and Timothy Ball were united in marriage during an afternoon ceremony Saturday, June 16, 2012, at Thorn Farm in Tobinsport.

  • Hunter Sandage and Kendall Bennett were crowned Tell City’s king and queen at homecoming ceremonies held Friday night before Tell City’s game against Southridge.

  • The Tell City branch of the Perry County Public Library celebrated the 10th anniversary of the building Saturday with games, prizes, food and a walking-history tour through the library for patrons and community residents. Past directors and Mayor Barbara Ewing were among the special guests who attended the event.
