  • Katie Kalin of New Albany announces the birth of her daughter, Riley Michelle Davis, Friday, Nov. 23, 2012, at Floyd Memorial Hospital in New Albany.
    The infant weighed 6 pounds, 14 ounces and was 20 1/2 inches long.
    Grandparents are John and Kathy Pyle of Tell City and Dannie and Sylvia Davis of Scottsburg. Great-grandparents are Walter and Mary Ann Lambert.

  • Sara Lynn Hess and Charles A. Hinton of Tell City were united in marriage during an afternoon ceremony Saturday, Sept. 29, 2012, at Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Tell City.

    The bride is the daughter of Rick and Rhonda Hess of Tell City. Mr. Hinton is the son of Charles and Lisa Hinton of Tell City.
    The Rev. Daniel Gadbaw officiated the ceremony.
    Jaime Hess, sister of the bride, was chosen as the maid of honor. Samantha Duncan was a bridesmaid and Jaidyn Hinton, cousin of the groom, was the flower girl.

  • Sisters of St. Benedict Christmas invitation
    FERDINAND – The Sisters of St. Benedict invite everyone to join them for their Christmas celebrations.
    Christmas Eve services at Monastery Immaculate Conception in Ferdinand will be held at 10 p.m. Dec. 24. A carol service will precede the Mass, beginning at 9:30 p.m.  Refreshments will be served in the monastery dining room immediately after Mass.
    Christmas morning Mass Dec. 25 will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. in the monastery church.

  • Businesses and organizations who were named winners of the annual Tell City Christmas parade and chili cook off received their awards Dec. 13 at City Hall. Tell City Mayor Barbara Ewing thanked the winners and all participants, who she said make the parade and cook off a success each year.

  • SPENCER COUNTY – Congratulations are given to Diana Nix of Tell City, who is the winner of the Altar Society quilt raffle.
    The Rev. Chris Forler drew the winning number at the annual Christmas luncheon Dec. 5 at Bill and Dave’s Smokin’ Pit in Tell City.

  • Deer Creek Baptist to host Christmas program Sunday
    TELL CITY – Deer Creek Baptist Church will hold a  candlelight service and children’s Christmas program at 6 p.m. Sunday.
    The church’s Christmas service will be at 10:30 a.m. Dec. 23. There will also be Christmas caroling at 6 p.m. Dec. 23. “Silent Night, Holy Night” will be performed by the adult choir.
    All are invited to attend.
     The church is also continuing Beth Moore’s 10-week Bible study lead by Cheri Taylor at 6 p.m. Thursdays.

  • PERRY COUNTY – The Perry County Chamber of Commerce, along with 11 participating businesses, an-nounce this year’s Christmas Cash Giveaway winners.

  • TELL CITY – The Tell City Historical Society has stocking stuffers for purchase for the holiday season.
    Items include local history DVDs, genealogy research books and the Tell City 150th anniversary pictorial history book.
    The museum, located at Ninth and Franklin streets, is open from 2 to 4 p.m. Sundays and from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesdays. All proceeds go toward the operating costs of the museum.

  • Chad and Jamie Bruggeman of New Albany announce the birth of their son, Miles Anthony Bruggeman, Monday, Oct. 1, 2012, at Floyd Memorial Hospital in New Albany.
    The infant weighed 10 pounds, 7 ounces and was 21 1/2 inches long.
    Mrs. Bruggeman is the former Jamie Lindblom. Miles has two older siblings, Max, 2, and Morgan, 4.
    Grandparents are Ron and Mary Anne Lindblom of Sellersburg and Mark and Debbie Bruggeman of Tell City.

  • Joseph K. Perkins and Jennifer E. Perkins of Cannelton announce the birth of their daughter, Remedy Elizabeth Perkins, Saturday, Nov. 24, 2012, at Perry County Memorial Hospital in Tell City.
    The infant weighed 9 pounds, 1 ounce and was 21 inches long.
    Mrs. Perkins is the former Jennifer Nies.
    Grandparents are Gail Shields, David Perkins, Melanie Maffia and stepgrandfather Frank Maffia.
