  • TELL CITY – The Rev. Marlin Betts was born into a parsonage family in Manistique, Mich. He spent most of his childhood in Michigan with his two brothers and one sister.

  • Rick and Rita Aders of Bristow celebrated their 30th wedding anniversary with a private dinner celebration July 11, 2011.

    The couple will also plan to take a trip in a couple of months.
    Mr. Aders married the former Rita Hubert July 11, 1981, in Tell City.
    The couple has two children, Leon Elverd and his wife, Danielle and Alessandra Graham and her husband, Joshua.
    They also have two grandchildren, Kayleigh Lanier and Kolten Elverd.

  • Morgan Treadway and Andy Simon announce their engagement and approaching marriage.

    The bride-elect is the daughter of Brad and Susan Treadway of Seymour. She is a graduate of Ball State University and works as a child-care provider.
    Mr. Simon is the son of Daniel Frank Simon and Paula Stiles. He is a graduate of Ball State University and works as a financial adviser for Lincoln Financial Group.
    The wedding is planned for 7 p.m. Friday, Aug. 26, 2011, at Huber Winery in Starlight. A reception will follow at 8 p.m. at the winery.

  • Angie Jarboe, Mike and JoAnn Smith and Larry Parks announce the engagement of their children, Candice Michelle Jarboe and Matthew Edward Parks, both of Cannelton.

    The bride-elect is also the daughter of the late Terry Jarboe. She is a 2000 graduate of Tell City High School and a 2004 graduate of the University of Evansville.
    She works as a production supervisor for Mulzer Crushed Stone at the Cape Sandy Quarry.
    Mr. Parks is a 2002 Crawford County High School graduate. He works as a coal barge tender for Mulzer Crushed Stone at Cape Sandy Quarry.

  • Natalie Gibson and Quinton Fulton of Chicago, Ill., announce their engagement and approaching marriage.

    The bride-elect is the daughter of Dr. Don and Marilyn Gibson of Leopold. She is the granddaughter of Robert and Rosanna Gibson of Branchville, Mary Hagman of Leopold and the late Gervase Hagman.
    She is a 2002 graduate of Perry Central High School and a 2006 graduate of Indiana University with a bachelor’s degree in psychology. She also graduated from Argosy University in 2009 with a master’s degree in psychology.

  • Pat Temple of St. Croix was the name drawn at the Perry County Democrat booth for the annual $50 gas card drawing at the 4-H Fair July 16 in Tell City. Sara Wenzel, right, was picked to draw the winner’s name. Tony Hollinden, left, and Chris Cail were present from the Democrat booth.

  • TELL CITY – Due to Schweizer Fest’s usage of City Hall Park and Ninth Street, the Perry County Farmers Market will change location Wednesday and Aug. 13. The market usually takes place in the 700 block of Ninth Street, but will move to the parking lot of First United Methodist Church at 10th and Mozart streets next week. The market’s start times remain the same, noon Wednesdays and 7 a.m. Saturdays. The market will return to Ninth Street Aug. 17.

  • Annabelle Jean Kilbarger
    Benjamin and Lacey Kilbarger of Carmel announce the birth of their daughter, Annabelle Jean Kilbarger, Wednesday, May 18, 2011, at Community Hospital North in Indianapolis.
    The infant weighed 7 pounds, 6 ounces and was 201⁄2 inches long.
    Mrs. Kilbarger is the former Lacey Hall.
    Grandparents are Dennis and Kimberly Hall of Tell City, and Alan and Phyllis Kilbarger of Cincinnati, Ohio.
    Great-grandparents are Clara Mae Hall of Tell City, and James Rhodes of Leopold.
