  • Samantha Rae Williams and Donnie Joe Duke were united in marriage during an afternoon ceremony Thursday, July 7, 2011, at 517 11th St., Tell City.

    The bride is the daughter of Randy and Dawn Williams of Tell City. Mr. Duke is the son of Don Duke of Tell City and the late Dorothy Duke.
    The bride was given away by her father in the double-ring ceremony officiated by Mayor Barbara Ewing.
    Angelica King of Tell City, sister of the bride, was chosen as maid of honor. The bride’s daughter, Kianna Williams of Tell City, was the flower girl.

  • Whitney Renee Braun and Ryan Daniel Harris of Cannelton announce their engagement and approaching marriage.

    The bride-elect is the daughter of James and Tracy Braun of Cannelton. She is a 2006 graduate of Tell City High School and a 2010 graduate of Ivy Tech Community College with a business administration degree. She is an administrative assistant with First Class Services Inc.
    Mr. Harris is the son of Jerry and Lisa Harris of Cannelton. He is a 1999 graduate of Cannelton High School. He works for Toyota Motor Manufacturing.

    CANNELTON – The Tell City High School Class of 1965 will hold a reunion at 6 p.m. Aug. 13 at Blue Heron Winery Bed and Breakfast, five miles east of Cannelton on Indiana 66.

  • FULDA – St. Boniface Catholic Church will hold its annual church picnic Aug. 7 at the church grounds in Fulda.
    Chicken and beef dinners with all the trimmings and dessert will be served from 10:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the air-conditioned dining hall. Carry outs will also be available.
    A grand raffle will be held at 5 p.m., along with a special quilt drawing for two beautiful handmade quilts. A country kitchen will be open throughout the day, serving homemade goodies including breads, rolls, muffins, coffee cakes, noodles, snacks, salsas, jellies, jams and more.

  • LEOPOLD – St. Augustine’s Catholic Church will have its annual picnic from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday at the church.
    Mass is set for 10:30 a.m. and parking will be available for the handicapped. There will be quilts, a quilt raffle, silent auction, country store, bingo, ice cream, games for young and old, baked goods and a grand raffle of 60 prizes totaling $2,750.
    Family style chicken dinners will be served in the air-conditioned dining room. Cost is $8 for adults and $5 for children. Carry-outs will be available.

  • Vacation Bible school continues at Nazarene church
    TELL CITY – Church of the Nazarene at 17 Lausanne Court, will continue their annual vacation Bible school today and Friday from 6 to 8:30 p.m.
    This year’s theme will be Hometown Nazareth-Jesus as a kid for ages 3 through fifth grade.

  • DERBY – A benefit will be at noon Saturday at the Derby Tavern for Jennifer Reed.
    Reed is currently battling Ewing’s Sarcoma, a malignant round-cell tumor. It is a rare disease in which cancer cells are found in the bone or in soft tissue.
    Activities during the event will include a cornhole tourney at 1 p.m. Entry fee is $10 per person and all those participating are asked to register by 12:30 p.m. Half-pot drawings will be held every hour and a silent auction will be held with bids closing at 8 p.m.

  • INDIANAPOLIS – Ava Nicole Hilgenhold recently competed in the National American Miss Pageant in Indianapolis, where she earned the following awards: a portfolio award for being photogenic; a Spirit of America award for participating in special categories; third runner up in the acting category, where she performed a commercial; a trophy for being a state finalist and ribbons for community service and resumé writing.

  • Grant Joseph Carroll
    David and Melissa Carroll of Hawesville, Ky., announce the birth of their son, Grant Joseph Carroll, Wednesday, April 13, 2011, at the Women’s Hospital in Newburgh.
    The infant weighed 7 pounds, 6 ounces and was 191⁄2 inches long.
    Mrs. Carroll is the former Melissa Peter. Grant has one older brother, Matthew, 4.
    Grandparents are Joe and Claudina Peter of Tell City and Mike and Debby Carroll of Hawesville.
    Great-grandparent is Anna Belle Johnston of Lewisport, Ky.

  • Mendy Ward and Erik Lassaline were united in marriage during an afternoon garden ceremony Saturday, June 25, 2011, at 28 Luzern Lane, Tell City.

    The bride is the daughter of David and Pat Reed of Cannelton. Mr. Lassaline is the son of Craig and Margaret Lassaline of Tell City.
    The bride was given away by her children, Seth and Haley Ward, in the double-ring ceremony officiated by Judge Lucy Goffinet.
    Haley Ward of Tell City, the bride’s daughter, was chosen as maid of honor.
