  • SAINT MEINRAD – Father Cyprian Davis OSB, a monk of Saint Meinrad Archabbey, has been named the recipient of three honors.
    The National Black Catholic Congress gave its Lifetime Achievement Servant of Christ Award to Davis July 21, during its conference in Indianapolis. Also receiving the award were Beverly A. Carroll of Baltimore, Md., and Jacqueline Wilson of Washington, D.C.
    The Servant of Christ Award is a new award developed by the leadership of the congress to recognize those who personify Christian servant leadership in the African-American community.

  • Special singers at Life Tabernacle Church Sunday
    TELL CITY – The Life Tabernacle United Pentecostal Church, 402 Ninth Street in Tell City, will host special guests Dave and Bonita Petersen from Indianapolis at 2 p.m. Sunday. Everyone is welcome to attend.

    EUCC Thanksgiving dinner

    TELL CITY – The Evangelical United Church of Christ will its annual Thanksgiving dinner from 11:30 to 1 p.m. Saturday in the fellowship hall.
    Donations will be accepted, but are not necessary to attend.

  • Cannelton Elementary School held its annual Veterans Day flag ceremony at the Myers and William Bennett Early Learning Center buildings Nov. 9. Members of the Cannelton American Legion Post 142 held a presentation and presented both school buildings with a new American Flag and an Indiana Flag.

  • The Oil Township Class of 1962 met for its 50th class reunion recently at the Patio. Pictured in the front from the left are Carolyn (Judge) DeMonbreun, Carolyn (Jarboe) Harbaville, Marilyn (Picou) Breitweiser and Catherine (Kelly) Frakes. In the middle row are Freda (Rogier) Kessens, Mary Lois Ransom, Phyllis (Taylor) Dupont, Carolyn (Wittmer) Luecke, Carol Ann James and David Eigel. In the back row are Norman Hubert, Ernie Smitley, Albert (Buddy) Peter, Donnie Hubert, Robert Rennie and Sam Hubert.

  • TOBINSPORT – The 36th annual Weatherholt reunion was held Sept. 22 in Tobinsport at the Clayton Harris Memorial United Methodist Church. Approximately 65 people attended, descendants of Jacob Weatherholt Sr. Those attending for the first time included Heath and Poe Burst, Billie Brown, Linda Coleman and John Weatherholt.

  • EVANSTON – St. John’s Lutheran Church in Evanston has announced the church will begin a new service open to the community.
    A dedication service will be held Nov. 18 at the church, 12308 E. County Road 1160 N., just west of New Boston off Indiana 545, with a reception to follow. This service is an informal, come-as-you-are praise service to be held at 5:30 p.m. every third Sunday of the month.

  • St. Paul Catholic Church celebrated the Sacrament of Confirmation which was ministered to 22 students on October 14 during 12:30 p.m. Mass by Bishop Gerald Gettelfinger of Evansville, pictured front row on the right. Bishop Gettelfinger also served as celebrant and homilist.

  • Deer Creek Baptist Church will host a Thanksgiving service and meal at 10:30 a.m. Sunday, with special music provided by Revival Music. All are invited. Ordination services and a fellowship meal will be held at 10:30 a.m. Nov. 25.

  • St. John to hold annual Christmas bazaar
    NEW BOSTON – St. John’s Lutheran Church, located a half-mile west of New Boston, will host their annual Christmas Bazaar from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Dec. 1.
    There will be crafts, homemade candy, apple dumplings, baked goods including springerlies, quilts, blankets, turnip slaw, turnip kraut and much more.
