  • CANNELTON —Winners of the silent auction held at the 66th annual Cannelton Fall Fest were announced recently.

  • TELL CITY – In celebration of National Emergency Nurses Week, Perry County Memorial Hospital’s Emergency Room department was asked to compete in an Emergency Nurses Week Challenge hosted by The Emergency Nurses Association Chapter 137 Oct. 13 at St. Mary’s Medical Center Manor Auditorium in Evansville.

    The hospital team was to consist of five bedside-staff registered nurses. Questions were based on Certified Emergency Nurse and Critical Care Registered Nurse review style questions.

  • TELL CITY – A Christmas open house will be held from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday in the Twilight Towers dining room, 1648 10th St., Tell City.
    Items on display will include decorative oil wine bottles, tooth fairy pillows, lighted glass blocks, Mia Bella candles, wood signs, Pampered Chef items, Lia Sophia jewelry, Mary Kay products, Ladder Yarn necklaces and Dichroic glass pendants, Avon handmade purses, Tastefully Simple items, loupies scarves, homemade cookies and candy, Premier jewelry, Christmas decorations and more.

  • German American recently made a $500 donation to the Dolly Parton Imagination Library to help the program continue to offer books to children in Perry County at no cost.

  • St. Paul fish fry set for Friday
    TELL CITY – The St. Paul parish will host an all-you-can-eat fish fry form 4:30 to 7:30 p.m. Nov. 4 at the parish hall.
    The menus will include fish, chips, macaroni and cheese, dessert and drink.
    Cost is $7 adult and $5 child for children. Everyone is invited to attend.
    Proceeds will benefit a mission trip to St. Louis in 2012.

  • TELL CITY – St. Paul Catholic Church will host a grief workshop, Exploring the Well of Grief, from 9 to 11 a.m. Saturday at the St. Paul Catholic Ministry Center on the corner of Main and Jefferson streets.
    This workshop will be lead by Sister Kathryn Huber OSB, a member of the Sisters of St. Benedict in Ferdinand.
    She will explore the themes of death and loss even as people struggle through their own grieving experiences.

  • Glen’s Cleaning service to hold winter coat drive
    TELL CITY – Glenn’s Cleaning Service in Tell City will hold a winter coat drive from Nov. 1 to Nov. 15. The business will accept donations of gently used coats, winter hats, gloves and scarves of all sizes.
    Glenn’s Cleaning Service will clean and distribute the items to those in need. Drop off bins will be located at 907 Jefferson St., in Tell City.

  • St. Paul Catholic Church celebrated the Sacrament of Confirmation, which was administered to 19 students, Oct. 16 during the 12:30 p.m. Mass by Bishop Christopher Coyne, pictured in the front row on the right, of the Archdiocese of Indianapolis. 

  • PERRY COUNTY – Thanks to the Perry County Women for Women Fund, Perry Central Community Schools and the Tell City-Troy Township School Corp. are partnering with Junior Achievement of Perry County to offer the Empowering Girls to Be Entrepreneurial after school program.
    This program is designed to educate girls about entrepreneurship – starting your own business in hope of earning a profit – and the skills and characteristics needed to be a successful entrepreneur.
