  • TROY – The annual John and Anna Strobel reunion was held Aug. 12 at St. Pius Catholic Church Hall with a pitch-in dinner.

  • The Tell City High School Class of 1962 gathered its 50th reunion Aug. 11 at Tell City American Legion Post.

  • St. Pius fall festival set for Sunday
    TROY – St. Pius Catholic Church in Troy will have its annual fall festival Sunday.
    The menu for the day will include the church’s “famous soup” by the bowl and gallon. Those wishing to purchase soup by the gallon are asked to take their own containers.
    Fried-chicken or roast-beef dinners, hamburgers, polish sausage, ice cream and homemade pie will also be served.

  • TROY – Area residents are invited to participate in the Financial Peace University to learn how to plan and budget their finances.
    Through video teaching by Dave Ramsey and class discussions, FPU presents practical steps to get participants from where they are to where they want to be with their money.
    According to organizers, this plan will show how to get rid of debt, manage money, spend and save wisely and much more.
    The average family who goes through the program pays off $5,300 in debt and saves $2,7000 in the first 90 days, organizers said.

  • SANTA CLAUS – Mount Zion Christian Church of Santa Claus will hold its 177th annual homecoming Sept. 16 at the church.
    The guest speaker for the 10 a.m. morning service will be Brother Jim D. Bowyer, Sr. Bowyer has been preaching the gospel of Christ for more than 40 years. He is a graduate of Louisville Bible College and Cincinnati Christian University.

  • Seventeen classmates and some spouses of Tell City High School Class of 1947 gathered for their 65th reunion Aug. 11 at the Patio Steak House.

  • Harpenau Insurance was honored during this year’s Schweizer Fest Testimonial Dinner.

  • TELL CITY – A birthday party for Eulalia Flamion will be held Saturday to celebrate her 90th birthday.
    The open house will be from 2 to 4 p.m. in the Twilight Towers dining room.
    Friends and family are invited to attend and celebrate with Eulalia.

  • Adam and Stevi Evrard of Tell City announce the birth of their son, Cooper Joseph Evrard, Friday, Aug. 24, 2012, at Owensboro Medical Health System in Owensboro, Ky.
    The infant weighed 8 pounds, 12 ounces and was 20 inches long.
    Mrs. Evrard is the former Stevi Wheatley.
    Grandparents are Jane Brumfield of Tell City, Gary Wheatley of Leopold, Fred and Rebecca Evrard Jr. of Tell City and Jeff and Bev York of Troy.
    Great-grandparents are Red and Joella Evrard Sr. of New Boston and LaVern Johnson of Tell City.

  • Steven and Cassie Kellems of Tell City announce the birth of the daughter, Lexie Mae Kellems, Thursday, Aug. 23, 2012, at Jasper Memorial Hospital.
    The infant weighed 7 pounds, 7 ounces and was 211⁄2 inches long.
    Mrs. Kellems is the former Cassie Litherland. Lex-ie has one older sibling, Savannah Kellems, 3.
    Grandparents are Larry and Becky Peter of Tell City, Larry and Virginia Clark of Cloverport, Ky., the late Tim Kreisle.
