  • TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – The Okeechobee County Health Department announces the appointment of Erin Hess as administrator of the Okeechobee County Health Department, effective Sept. 30.

    Hess is the daughter of Joan and Tom Hess of Tell City and a 1998 graduate of Tell City High School.

  • Fun day at Lilly Dale Church Saturday
    GATCHEL – Lilly Dale Church of Christ in Gatchel will host a free fall fun day Saturday.
    There will be free hot dogs, drinks, chips, cookies and cupcakes, hayrides, barrel train rides, inflatable slides and other fun games.
    Organizers invite anyone to come enjoy the day from noon to 5 p.m. The church is located on Indiana 37, 10 miles north of Tell City. Watch for signs.

  • Melanie Rose Wolf
    Captain Michael and Adrienne Wolf of Omaha, Neb., announce the birth of their daughter, Melanie Rose Wolf, Saturday, Sept. 3, 2011, at the University of Nebraska Medical Center.
    The infant weighed 9 pounds, 2 ounces and was 201⁄2 inches long.
    Melanie has one brother, Parker Joseph, 2.
    Grandparents are Maurice and Donna Harpenau of Tell City and Joe and Gwen Wolf of Leonardtown, Md.

  • Mr. and Mrs. George F. Biggs will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary from 2 to 4 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 22, 2011, with an open house at the Grandview Civic Center in Grandview.

    Family and friends are invited to attend.

  • Daniel Lindsey and Jennifer Hauser of Tell City announce their engagement and approaching marriage.

    The bride-elect is the daughter of Danny Hauser of Cannelton, Sylvia Barnett of Troy and Ken Wheatley of Rome.
    She is a 2000 graduate of Tell City High School and is a cook at the Patio Steakhouse in Cannelton.
    Mr. Lindsey is the son of David Lindsey of Eckerty and the late Rebecca (Genet) Lindsey.
    He is a 1997 graduate of Perry Central High School and works in production at Masterbrand Cabinets.

  • Mr. and Mrs. David Edwards of Leopold and Mr. and Mrs. Wallace Bryant of Derby announce the engagement and approaching marriage of their children, Deann Edwards and Morty Bryant.

    The bride-elect is a 2006 graduate of Perry Central High School and a 2010 graduate of Indiana University Southeast.
    She is a special-education teacher at Corden Porter Alternative School in Jeffersonville.
    Mr. Bryant is a 2007 graduate of Perry Central High School and a 2010 graduate of Purdue University.

  • BIRDSEYE – Take your Dutch oven cookware, supplies, ingredients and set up with a friendly competition at Patoka’s Autumn Getaway ninth annual Dutch Oven Cook-Off from noon to 3 p.m. Saturday.
    Registration begins at noon. Cooking will begin at 12:30 p.m. and your dish will be judged upon completion. All culinary skill levels from beginner to advanced are welcome to try their hand as Dutch oven chef.

  • BRISTOW – A benefit to raise funds for Lois Aders will be conducted from 9 a.m. to 11:30 p.m. Oct. 29 at the Bristow Community Center.
    Aders has myeloma, a type of bone cancer that is not curable. The benefit is to help raise funds for her medical costs and other bills. The day will be filled with activities for children and adults.
    A yard and bake sale will be held from 9 a.m. to noon, followed by Fruits of the Spirit performing at 1 p.m.

  • Alan and Nancy Schroeder and Charles and Diana Hedinger, all of Tell City, announce the engagement and approaching marriage of their children, Alie Schroeder and Jared Hedinger.

    The bride-elect is a 2008 graduate of Perry Central High School and a 2010 graduate of Vincennes University with an associate’s degree in surgical technology.
    She is a certified surgical technologist at Owensboro Medical Health System in Owensboro, Ky.
