  • Tell City High School Class of 1951 held their 60th reunion Aug. 12 at Bill & Dave’s Smokin’ Pit.

  • JASPER – The Lange-Fuhs Cancer Center offers a support group for women who have had cancer of any type or who are currently undergoing cancer treatment.
    Sessions will be held the third Tuesday of every month from 6:30 to 8 p.m. in the Lange-Fuhs Cancer Center Conference Room located at Memorial Hospital and Health Care Center’s Dorbett Street entrance.

  • HANCOCK COUNTY – Ashley Hagan has been chosen to be ambassador for the annual Down Syndrome awareness walk Oct. 8 at Moreland Park in Owensboro, Ky.

    Hagan will arrive at the park in a limousine, welcome all participants in the walk, recognize special volunteers and lead the walk.
    Ashley is collecting donations which will help fund educational activities, social activities, new parent outreach, hospital outreach and workshops.

  • Mason Allen Grossman
    Mark and Jessica Grossman of Evansville announce the birth of a son, Mason Allen, Aug. 30, 2011, at Deaconess Gateway Women’s Hospital. The infant weighed 8 pounds, 15 ounces and was 22 inches long.
    The mother is the former Jessica DeVillez.
    Grandparents are Pam and Stanley Wright of Tell City, Scott and Sharon DeVillez of Tell City, Steve and Bobbi Grossman of Bristow and Chris and Bill Nesmich of South Carolina.

  • Perry Central football families hosted a Punt, Pass and Kick contest. Trophies were donated by Jason and Cindy Emmons of Bear Hollow Wood Carvers.

  • Perry Central’s Cross Country team hosted the Little Green Mile. In each row second place is on the left, first place is in middle, and third place is on the right.

  • Dennis and Sharon Shreve celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary, Aug. 22, 2011.

    The couple’s children hosted a surprise celebration Aug. 6, 2011, at Moonlite Barbecue in Owensboro, Ky. The couple took a two-week cruise to Alaska, Aug. 22, 2011.
    Mr. Shreve married the former Sharon Harris Aug. 22, 1961 at Happy Valley Church in Chrisney.
    Mr. and Mrs. Shreve are the parents of three children, Dennis Shreve Jr. of Rivertown, Utah, Terry Shreve and Kimberly Patrick, both of Tell City.

  • Robert and Louise Baur of Tell City celebrated their 55th wedding anniversary Thursday, Sept. 15, 2011, with a small family gathering at the home of the couple.

    The celebration was hosted by their children.
    Mr. Baur married the former Louise Price Sept. 15, 1956, in Tell City.
    The couple has three children, Bob Baur and his wife, Debbie of Muncie, Tim Baur and his wife, Libby of Tell City and Kathy Anderson of Tell City.

  • Ivan Bland was named homecoming king and Whittney Huff crowned queen Sept. 9 during homecoming ceremonies at Perry Central, held before the football game against West Washington.
