  • Cynthia Anne Robert and Joel Clyde Welsh were married in Asheville, N.C., Thursday, July 26, 2012, at the county courthouse.

    In attendance were Calvin and Marnie Wilson of Marshall, N.C., and Chloe and Allen Roderick of Barnardsville, N.C.
    The bride is the daughter of Ramona Robert of Sevry, Kan., and the late Elwin Robert. She is a occupational therapist.
    The groom is the son of Leoma (Wittman) Welsh of Tell City and Dan L. Welsh of Alamosa, Colo. He is a registered nurse.
    They will reside in Leicester, N.C.

  • EVANSTON – Marie Speer, 14, daughter of Darryl Adams and Tracy Speer-Horn of Evanston, has been selected to represent southern Indiana at the 2012 Miss American Junior Teen Pageant. She and four other girls from Indiana qualified to compete for the title of Miss American Junior Teen by earning places in the queen’s court at the annual state pageant.

  • DERBY – The line up of events for the Oct. 6 Derby Fall Fest has been released.
    At 7:15 a.m. registration will begin for a 5K run-walk sponsored by Perry County Parks and Recreation Department. The run-walk will start at 8 a.m. and there will be T-shirts and prizes for all ages.
    A fishing derby at Rainbow Pay Lake will start at 8:30 a.m. It will be for ages 15 and under. Beginning at 11 a.m. and running until 3 p.m., visitors will be able to partake in food and drink booths.

  • The Cannelton High School Class of 1967 met for its 45th reunion Aug. 11.

  • JASPER – Holy Family Catholic Church in Jasper will host its annual church picnic Sept. 23.
    Chicken or roast beef dinners will be served starting at 10:15 a.m. in the air condition dining room. Carry-out is available. Soup will also sold by the bowl or gallon along with sandwiches.
    There will also be quilts and bingo or pull-tab bingo in the fellowship hall with elevator access is available.
    A Texas Hold 'Em tourney with begin at 1 p.m., along with a mason jar stand filled with unique and useful items for home, office or school, organizers said.

  • St. Meinrad church fall fest Sunday
    ST. MEINRAD – The St. Meinrad Catholic Church Fall Festival will be held from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday at the St. Meinrad Park and Recreation Field and the St. Meinrad Community Center.
    Live music will be provided by Shady Tree-O from 11 a.m. to noon and by Pink Sneekerz from 12:30 to 3:30 p.m.

  • TELL CITY – Many fun-filled adventures await children this fall as the Fall Into Winter story time series, “Monkey See – Monday Do,” prepares to launch at both the Tell City Cannelton branches of the Perry County Public Library. Kids will enjoy weekly visits with a very loveable monkey, Curious George, along with monkey challenges, stories, crafts and songs that are sure to tickle the imaginations of little ones.

  • Adam and Stevi Evrard of Tell City announce the birth of their son, Cooper Joseph Evrard, Friday, Aug. 24, 2012, at Owensboro Medical Health System in Owensboro, Ky.
    The infant weighed 8 pounds, 12 ounces and was 20 inches long.
    Mrs. Evrard is the former Stevi Wheatley. Cooper has one older brother, Owen Matthew Evrard, 5.
    Grandparents are Jane Brumfield of Tell City, Gary Wheatley of Leopold, Fred and Rebecca Evrard Jr. of Tell City and Jeff and Bev York of Troy.

  • Jeremy and Ashley Wagner of Tell City announce the birth of their daughter, Kathryn Lynn Wagner, Sunday, Aug. 19, 2012, at Perry County Memorial Hospital in Tell City.
    The infant weighed 8 pounds, 1 ounce and was 20 inches long.
    Mrs. Wagner is the former Ashley Moore. Kathryn has one older brother, Jacob Wagner, 8.
    Grandparents are Sherry Moore of Fort Pierce, Fla., and Keith and Margie Wagner and John and Jenny Brunner, all of Tell City.
    Great-grandparents are Mildred Beck, Thelma Wagner and Elizabeth Simpson.
