  • Twin Lakes 4-H Club
    ST. MEINRAD – The Twin Lakes 4-H Club held its first meeting of the year Jan. 6, at the co-op in St. Meinrad.
    The meeting was called to order at 2 p.m. and pledges were recited.

  • ST. MEINRAD – Billed as “an evening of fun for a serious cause,” the Abbey Press and Saint Meinrad Archabbey Relay for Life team will once again hold the annual trivia night fundraiser March 2.

  • SANTA CLAUS – Holiday World & Splashin’ Safari officials expect to review a record number of job applications as they prepare to fill 2,100 seasonal positions in the coming months.
    “We’re looking for friendly and energetic individuals who enjoy working with people,” said Holiday World & Splashin’ Safari President Matt Eckert. “We need ride operators, lifeguards and sweepers, plus staff for admissions, shops, games and foods. We’re like a small city – we have quite a variety of jobs available.”

  • Adam and Natalie Tempel of Tell City announce the birth of their daughter, Molly Kay Tempel, Friday, Jan. 11, 2013, at Memorial Hospital in Jasper.
    The infant weighed 6 pounds, 12 ounces and was 20 1/2 inches long.
    Mrs. Tempel is the former Natalie Gogel.
    Grandparents are Patrick and Cindy Gogel of Mariah Hill and Phillip and Rosanna Tempel of Lincoln City.
    Great-grandparents are Virlee Zoglman of St. Meinrad, Leander Tempel of Dale, Gilbert and Ruth Esarey of Bristow and the late Renus Zoglman, Leo and Edwina Gogel and Edna Tempel.

  • Alex and Jaime Dilger of Dale announce the birth of their son, Gage Oaks Dilger, Thursday, Jan. 10, 2013, at the Women’s Hospital in Newburgh.
    The infant weighed 6 pounds, 8 ounces and was 19 inches long. Mrs. Dilger is the former Jaime Rickenbaugh. Gage has one older brother, Case, 22 months.
    Grandparents are Dewey and Melanie Rickenbaugh of Bristow and Leon and Doris Dilger of Dale.
    Great-grandparents are Opal Rickenbaugh and the late Archie Rickenbaugh, Kenny and Faye Elverd, Hubert and Philomena Dilger and Victor and Cecelia Stetter.

  • Brad and Brittany Taylor of Tell City announce the birth of their son, Jett Hendrix Christian Taylor, Monday, Jan. 21, 2013, at Perry County Memorial Hospital in Tell City.
    The infant weighed 7 pounds, 14 ounces and was 191/2 inches long.
    Mrs. Taylor is the former Brittany Jones. Jett has two older siblings, Aiden Taylor, 6, and Kaleb Taylor, 3.
    Grandparents are Matt and Gala Leibering of Cannelton, Kent and Kris Jones of Tell City and the late Bill Taylor and Terri Wheeler.

  • TELL CITY – The Tell City High School Student Council will host the 2013 homecoming ceremony Saturday between the junior varsity and varsity basketball games against Gibson Southern.  The junior varsity game will begin at 6 p.m.

  • Agape church host guests
    CANNELTON – Agape Community Church, 101 Taylor St., in Cannelton, will host His Witness Sunday during morning worship.
    There will be a fellowship meal following. Everyone is invited to attend.

    Chili supper at EUCC Feb. 23
    TELL CITY – Evangelical United Church of Christ will host a chili supper from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. Feb. 23 in the fellowship hall.

  • ST. MEINRAD – The Saint Meinrad Archabbey Library is hosting an exhibit titled “The Second Vatican Council: Looking Back After Fifty Years.”
    More than 2,300 Roman Catholic bishops from all over the world gathered for the Second Vatican Council, and the exhibit focuses particularly on those from Indianapolis, Louisville and Evansville.

  • Several different generations of Thelma Wagner’s family celebrated at Christmas and gathered for generation pictures.
