  • JASPER – 2012 marks the 70th anniversary of Jasper Engines & Transmissions.  As part of the year-long celebration, the company took a group of associates, based on years of service, on a weekend trip to Nashville, Tenn.

    These associates attending recently marked 30 and 31 years of service with Jasper Engines, along with associates who have achieved 35 or more years of service.

  • PERRY COUNTY – There is still time for students in primary and secondary schools, both public and private in grades kindergarten through 12, to design a poster for the 24th annual River Sweep 2013.
    Fifteen prizes will be awarded. The grand prize is $500, and the school representing the grand prize winner will also receive an award. A prize of $500 will be presented to the student with the winning design for the official River Sweep T-shirt. Thirteen $50 prizes will be awarded to one winner at each grade level.

  • During the month of October the children at the Lincoln Hills Development Corp. South Perry Head Start Classroom 3 enjoyed activities that helped them learn about fire safety.

  • INDIANAPOLIS– The Indiana Historical Society announces that Rev. Cyprian Davis of St. Meinrad Archabbey has been named a recipient of the 2012 Eli Lilly Lifetime Achievement Award. He received the award Dec. 3 during IHS’s annual Founders Day event at the Eugene and Marilyn Glick Indiana History Center, located at 450 W. Ohio St. in downtown Indianapolis.
    The Eli Lilly Lifetime Achievement Award is given to an individual who has made extraordinary contributions over an extended period of time to the field of history or the affairs of IHS.

  • Bristow Christian Church lunch Saturday
    BRISTOW – The Bristow Christian Church will host a lunch at noon Saturday, followed by a showing of the movie, “Hiding Place.”
    Menu will include chili, hot dogs and desserts. Reservations are not required, but would help organizers will food preparation.
    RSVPs may be made by calling 547-9991. Everyone is welcome to attend.

  • Haley Coogan and David McCoskey of Tell City announce the birth of their son, Zayden Emmerson Shane McCoskey, Friday, Nov. 29, 2012, at the Perry County Memorial Hospital in Tell City.
    The infant weighed 6 pounds, 12 ounces and was 18 inches long.
    Zayden has one older sibling, Nevaeh Izabelle Dawn McCoskey, 1.
    Grandparents are Kim and James Malone and Bill McCoskey, all of Tell City. Great-grandparents are Mary and Paul Van Note of Tell City.

  • Tommy and Heather Ov-erstreet of Tell City an-nounce the birth of their daughter, Tristann Faith Overstreet, Wednesday, Nov. 28, 2012, at the Women’s Hospital in Newburgh.
    The infant weighed 7 pounds, 6 ounces and was 19 3/4 inches long.
    Mrs. Overstreet is the former Heather Blackwood. The Overstreets had one other child, the late Keagan Lee Overstreet.
    Grandparents are Phil and Judy Hinton of Cannelton, Ken and Bernie Overstreet in Tell City and James and Jennifer Blackwood of Pell City, Ala.

  • Shawn Kahler and Courtney Leisner of rural Tell City announce the birth of their son, Bayden Christopher Leisner-Kahler, Tuesday, Nov. 20, 2012, at the Women’s Hospital at Deaconess Gateway in Newburgh.
    The infant weighed 7 pounds, 8 ounces and was 21 inches long.
    Maternal grandparents are Betty Jean Leisner of Bristow and the late Shawn Leisner. Paternal grandparents are Mike and Connie Kahler of Cannelton.

  • Josh and Danielle Hippen of Derby announce the birth of their son, Case Joshua Hippen, June 17, 2012, at Floyd Memorial Hospital in New Albany.
    The infant weighed 8 pounds, 10 ounces and was 23 inches long.
    Mrs. Hippen is the former Danielle Peter of St. Marks.
    Grandparents are Danny and Brenda Peter of Derby and Pat and Jodi Griffin of Georgetown.
    Great-grandparents are Elsie Arnold of Tell City, David and Wanda Hippen of Sterling, Ill., and the late Ray Arnold and Juanita Peter.

  • Jason and Tracie Harrison of Leopold announce the birth of their son, Jase Lee Harrison, Thursday, Nov. 8, 2012, at Perry County Memorial Hospital.
    The infant weighed 8 pounds, 6 ounces and was 20 inches long.
    Mrs. Harrison is the former Tracie Mallory. Jase has one older sibling, Paige Harrison, 3.
    Grandparents are Rick and Peggy Mallory of Tell City and Jesse and Dianne Harrison of Tell City.
    Great-grandparents are Charles and Clara Rita Mallory of Tell City, Carl and Mary Sommer of Rome, Anna Harrison of Tell City and Ruth Rogier of Tell City.
