    TELL CITY – David McQueen, a career geologist for Louisiana and a life-long creationist, will speak Jan. 20 at Community Christian Church, 821 10th St., in Tell City.

  • Kalea Jones was crowned Miss Merry Christmas Nov. 30, at Town Square Mall in Owensboro, Ky.

  • Kristel Hess and Nicholas Kratzer were united in marriage during an afternoon ceremony Saturday, Oct. 6, 2012, at St. Augustine Catholic Church in Leopold.

    The bride is the daughter of Donald and Lynda Hess of Derby. Mr. Kratzer is the son of Jim and Billie Faye Schwartz of Tell City and the late Albert Kratzer.
    The bride was given in marriage by her father in a double-ring ceremony officiated by the Rev. Brian Esarey.

  • Derek and Kip Leitner of Sidney, Ohio, announce the birth of their son, Grayson Lee, Friday, Nov. 30, 2012, at Wilson Memorial Hospital in Sidney.
    The infant weighed 6 pounds, 13 ounces and was 20 inches long.
    Mrs. Leitner is the former Kip Klingel from Marion, Ohio. Grayson has two older brothers, Evan Joseph, 7, and Landon Alexander, 5.
    Grandparents are Dennis and Rose Mary Leitner of Tell City and Herb and Linda Klingel of Marion. Great-grandparents are Charles J. Leitner of Tell City and the late Edith Leitner and Oscar and Eva Poehlein.

  • Wade and Anne Etienne announce the birth of their twin sons, Calvin Wade Etienne and Jackson Allen Etienne, Wednesday, Jan. 2, 2012, at Jasper Memorial Hospital in Jasper.
    Calvin weighed 6 pounds, 2 ounces and Jackson weighed 6 pounds, 10 ounces.
    Anne Etienne is the former Anne Ramsey. Calvin and Jackson have an older sibling, Levi, who is 3.
    Grandparents are Phil and Joann Etienne of Derby, Charles Ramsey of Derby and Norma Ramsey of Branchville.
    Great-grandparents are Frederick and Thelma Carter of Cannelton.

  • Grant and Karen LaMar of Bristow announce the birth of their son, Rhett William LaMar, Thursday, Dec. 27, 2012, at Jasper Memorial Hospital.
    The infant weighed 4 pounds, 11 ounces and was 18 1/2 inches long.
    Mrs. LaMar is the former Karen Wagner.
    Grandparents are David and Mary Wagner of St. Meinrad and Kevin and Kim LaMar of Leopold.
    Great-grandparents are Alice Betz, the late Leo Betz, the late Henry and Anna Marie Wagner, Wallace and Lanora LaMar and Bill and Eva Guillaume.

  • PERRY COUNTY – The American Cancer Society is seeking volunteers to recruit fundraising teams, garner community support, coordinate logistics, plan entertainment and lend a hand to ensure the success of the 2013 Relay For Life of Perry County. Cancer survivors, caregiv-ers, community leaders and anyone wanting to make a difference are invited to participate.
    The first volunteer committee meeting will be held at 5:30 p.m. Jan. 21 at the United Methodist Church, 702 10th St., Tell City.
