  • FERDINAND – The Sisters of St. Benedict of Ferdinand have produced a three-DVD set and guidebook, “A Transformed Life,” intended to help viewers discover the meaning and purpose of their lives.
    In six 45-minute conferences, Sister Maria Tasto OSB, guides viewers along the path of becoming who God created them to be. Using the lens of Scripture and inspired by the work of the Rev. Thomas Keating, Sister Maria shares what she has gleaned from years of walking with others on the spiritual journey and from her own path.

  • Stephen and Suzanne Terry of Tell City will celebrate their 40th wedding anniversary at 4 p.m. Dec. 31, 2011, with an open house at Tell City Seventh-day Adventist Church. The event will be hosted by their children.

    Mr. Terry married the former Suzanne Jewell Dec. 26, 1971, at the Elkhart Seventh-day Adventist Church in Elkhart. They have three children, Rebekah Terry, John Terry and Elizabeth Pyle, all of Tell City.

  • Clyde and Rosemary LaGrange ran a store and gas station in St. Croix from 1940 to 1970. The store was built and owned by Levi LaGrange, who sold it Clyde.

  • Students of Community Christian Church’s preschool program put on a Christmas program Dec. 19-Dec. 20 filled with Bible verses, Christmas songs and rhymes children had learned.

    On Monday night, the sanctuary of the church was filled to the brim with at least 300 people, preschool director Karen Lawalin said. Tuesday night wasn’t as packed, but students regaled family and friends.

  • PERRY COUNTY – Foreign high-school students are scheduled to arrive soon for academic semester home-stay programs, and the sponsoring organization needs a few more local host families.

  • PERRY COUNTY – Dr. Frank Sandage researcher, compiler and author of “Civil War Veterans of Perry County” met with Larry Oathout, director of the Tell City-Perry County Library and Cindy Kaufman, library genealogist, Dec. 9 for the purpose of donating three copies of his 487-page history book to the library. One copy is for the genealogy department, another for general circulation and one for the Cannelton Public Library.

  • United Pentecostal Christmas play Friday
    BRISTOW – The United Pentecostal Church will present a Christmas play, “Christmas Around the World,” at 6 p.m. Friday at the church.
    Everyone is welcome to attend. The church is located at 20843 State Road 145 in Bristow.

  • Zander Timothy Luecke
    Tim and Ashley Luecke of Evanston announce the birth of their son, Zander Timothy Luecke, Friday, Dec. 9, 2011, at Perry County Memorial Hospital in Tell City.
    The infant weighed 8 pounds and was 201⁄2 inches long.
    Mrs. Luecke is the former Ashley Dale Evrard. Zander has two older siblings, Brendon, 7, and Evan, 6.
    Grandparents are Paul and Mary Luecke of Evanston, Gary and Rita Smith of Tell City and Dale and Magie Evrard of Shawnee, Ohio.
