  • Samantha Peter and Robbie Pannet were married during a ceremony Tuesday, June 5, 2012, at the city park gazebo in Cannelton. Chris and Karen Zuckschwerdt officiated the ceremony.

    The bride is the daughter of Cheryl and Bill Peter of Leopold and the late Larry A. Peter, and the granddaughter of Eva Knable. She is a full-time student at Sullivan College in Louisville, Ky.

  • TELL CITY – The JFK Pool in Tell City is now open for the 2012 summer season and has openings for public swimming lessons.
    Lessons start Tuesday and will be from 10 to 10:30 a.m. or 6 to 6:30 p.m. Tuesday and Wednesday. The program will run for four weeks – lessons will be skipped the week of the Fourth of July – and conclude July 11.
    Cost is $40 for the first child, $35 for the second child, etc.

  • Joe and Marlene Scarboro of Tell City celebrated their 40th wedding anniversary Sunday, June 10, 2012, at their home.

    Mr. Scarboro and the former Marlene Sutcliffe were united in marriage June 10, 1972, at Lilly Dale Church of Christ.
    The couple has two children, John Glenn Scarboro of Tell City and Cathy Board of Leopold. They also have six grandchildren, Katelin, Kaylee and Ashley Scarboro, Tyler and Dylan Watson and Myles Board.

  • Mike and Alisa Poehlein of Cannelton marked their 40th wedding anniversary Sunday, June 10, 2012.
    The couple will celebrate with a family gathering at a later date.

    Mr. Poehlein married the former Alisa Meyer June 10, 1972, at Salem United Church of Christ in Westphalia.
    They have two daughters, Rachelle Blackford (Greg) and Shawna Etheridge, both of Evansville. The couple also has four grandchildren, Sydney, Hayden, Blake and Madison.
    Mr. Poehlein works at National Office Furniture in Santa Claus and Mrs. Poehlein is a housewife.

  • TELL CITY – Make It Real Sunday, a presentation of Sonny Childs Ministries of Paragould, Ark., will be held June 10 at Community Christian Church in Tell City.
    Sonny Childs is an author and a traveling evangelist. He is the director for the Missionaries for America Program, a ministry that trains Christians to view their own community as a mission field. He is also founder of the “Make It Real” Movement, which promotes the practical, provable Christian advantage through publications, motivational speaking engagements, and online resources.

  • Little Pigeon to host gospel sing
    LAMAR – Little Pigeon Baptist Church, located two-tenths of a mile east of Highway 231 on 1250 N., will host a gospel sing June 16.
    Refreshments will be served at 6 p.m. and the singing will begin at 7. Guest singers will be Harvest Gold.
    All are welcome to attend.

  • BRISTOW – The United Pentecostal Church, 20843 Indiana 145 in Bristow, will host its 59th homecoming and 19th pastoral anniversary celebrations Sunday at the church.
    Special guest speaker for the event will be David Bernard, general superintendent at UPCI in Hazelwood, Mo.
    Sunday school will begin at 9:30 a.m. followed by a potluck dinner at noon. Service and special singing will follow dinner. Pastor Clarence Enmen Jr. and the congregation invite everyone to attend. For more information, call 843-5240.

  • First communion was celebrated at St. Marks Catholic Church in rural Tell City April 22. In the front from the left are Chase Howard, Kelsey Bruggeman, Makenzy Roark, Ryan Berger, Rosa Pund, Kendra Gehlhausen and Nicolas Hilgenhold. In the back row are catechist Marilyn Hagedorn, server Lane Hilgenhold, the Rev. Dennis Duvelius and server Sierra Bruggeman.

  • TELL CITY – St. Paul Catholic Church will host its summer picnic in the park Sunday. The event is open to the public and all are encouraged to come and enjoy food, games and more for adults and children. The park is located at 700 Main Street, across from the church.
    There will be grilled chicken and roast beef dinners served in the Parish Hall or available for take out. Serving will begin at 11 a.m., right after the 10 a.m. Mass in the church, and will continue until sold out.

  • Gaylord and Wanda Wittmer of Tell City will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary Saturday, June 23, 2012.

    Mr. Wittmer and the former Wanda Solbrig were married June 30, 1962, at St. Augustine Catholic Church in Leopold. Their attendants were Carolyn (Solbrig) Poehlein, Norma (Solbrig) Rogier, Carolyn (Wittmer) Luecke, Charles Albert James, Marvin Rogier and Bernard Luecke.
