  • TELL CITY – Following is the summer schedule for the Perry County Bookmobile. Materials may be returned to any stop on the schedule or to the Tell City-Perry County Public Library or the Cannelton Public Library.
    School stops are scheduled with classes all day; for smaller crowds and easier selection, avoid those stops.  If school is cancelled or is released early, the bookmobile schedule may change. When in doubt, contact the library.
    Anyone wishing to check out materials on the bookmobile will have to have a library card to check out.

  • TELL CITY – First United Methodist Church, 10th and Mozart streets, and St. Paul Catholic Church, Ninth and Jefferson streets, are gearing up for a “Son West Roundup” vacation Bible school June 24  through June 27.
    Children 4 to 5 year olds and kindergartners attend can attend vacation Bible school at the Methodist church from 9:15 to 11:15 a.m. Students in first through fourth grade will attend activities held at St. Paul Church from 9 to 11:30 a.m.

  • Guest speakers, singers at Freewill Baptist
    CANNELTON – Brother Steve and Bonita Epley of Mount Pleasant, Iowa, will be guest speakers and singers at the Cannelton Freewill Baptist Church Sunday service.
    Pastor Lewis Garrett and the congregation welcome everyone to join.

  • CORYDON – The Jonathan Jennings Chapter, United States Daughters of 1812 June meeting was held in Corydon. President Carol Scales opened the meeting in ritualistic form. Edith Key led the pledge to the Flag of the United States of America and Lynn Keasling led the group in the American’s Creed and acted as chaplain pro tern. Priscilla Fikes served as secretary pro tern.
    After officers and committee chairs reported, Marilyn Rhodes led a national flag discussion. She quoted George Washington’s explanation of how the flag was to be constructed.

  • Bristow Christian Church’s congregation welcomed Brother Bill Grieser to the church May 5. Brother Jack Wilson of Anderson Valley Christian Church ordained him.

    Church member Garry Brown was also ordained as a deacon during the Sunday church services. Along with Wilson, Brother Al Madden was in charge of the services. Church elders Wayne Sturgeon and Clarence VanWinkle also assisted. Members celebrated with a dinner following worship.

  • Kelvin and Linda Lindauer of St. Meinrad announce the engagement and approaching marriage of their daughter, Jessica Nicole, to Ryan John Mehling, son of Richard and Jane Mehling of Huntingburg.

    The bride-elect is a 2008 graduate of Perry Central High School and a May 2011 graduate of Vincennes University Jasper Campus of Applied Science. She is employed by Dale Pharmacy as a pharmacy technician.
    Mr. Mehling graduated from Forest Park High School in 2005. He is employed by Tim Mehling Trucking.

  • Adam and Megan Younger of Phoenix, Ariz., announce the birth of their son, Elijah Robert Younger, Saturday, May 4, 2013, at Banner Desert Medical Center.
    The infant weighed 8 pounds, 2 ounces and was 20 inches long.
    Mrs. Younger is the former Megan Newton.
    Grandparents are Rick and Lisa Newton of Tell City, Bob Younger of Indianapolis and Mary Schiel of Ypsilanti, Mich.
    Great-grandparents are Faye Davis of Tell City and the late Bill David and Russel and Catherine Newton.

  • Chris Braun and Courtney Roos announce their engagement and upcoming marriage.

    The bride-elect is a 2009 home-school graduate. She graduated from Ivy Tech in 2012 with an associate’s degree in office administration and is employed with the Perry County News. She is the daughter of Brian and Darla Roos of Evanston.
    Mr. Braun graduated from Tell City High School in 2008. He is a staff sergeant in the United States Air Force, stationed at Scott AFB, Ill. He is the son of David and Debbie Braun of Troy.

  • Aubrey James of Ferdinand and David Welp of Huntingburg announce their engagement and approaching marriage.

    The bride-elect is the daughter of Tony and Kathy James of Ferdinand. She is a 2008 graduate of Forest Park High School and a 2012 graduate of University of Evansville with a bachelor’s degree in nursing. She works as an emergency room nurse at St. Mary’s Health System in Evansville.
