  • CANNELTON – The Shubael Little Pioneer Village will hold its first old-time church service at 11 a.m. Oct. 16.
    The Missionary Baptist Church of Patesville, Ky., will conduct the service at the village during its open house. The service will feature old-time hymns sung a cappella and with string-instrument accompaniment. The service will be led by Brother Steve Jackson.
    The Shubael Little Pioneer Village’s annual open house will be from 10 a.m. until dark Oct. 15 and Oct. 16.  The village will dedicate a carpenter shop at 2 p.m. Oct. 15. 

  • Mass at St. Joe’s Cemetery
    BRISTOW – The Rev. Guy Mansini OSB will hold an outdoor mass at St. Joe’s Cemetery at 5:30 p.m. Saturday, weather permitting.
    In case of rain, there will be the usual mass at 6 p.m. at St. Isidore Catholic Church.

  • BRISTOW – The annual St. Isidore Catholic Church shooting match has been set for Oct. 16 at the church in Bristow.
    The ham and turkey shoot will be from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. The closed match will be beef and pork with first choice 1/2 beef. Entrance to the closed match is at 2:30 p.m.
    Lunch will be served beginning at 10:30 a.m. and the menu will include homemade chili, hamburgers, homemade pie, coffee, soft drinks and bottled water.
    There will also be a country store, cake stand, splatter boards, pull tabs, children’s games and bingo.

  • TELL CITY – The Rev. Lee Brown celebrated the 40th anniversary of his ordination Sept. 25.

  • Alli Jo Spellmeyer
    Brian and Mary Spellmeyer announce the birth of their daughter, Alli Jo Spellmeyer, Monday Aug. 29, 2011, at Memorial Hospital and Health Care Center in Jasper.
    The infant weighed 6 pounds, 13 ounces and was 20 1⁄2 inches long.
    Mrs. Spellmeyer is the former Mary Waninger of Chrisney. Alli Jo has two siblings, a sister, Madelene, 5, and a brother, Kyle, 2.
    Grandparents are Deacon Mike and Karen Waninger of Chrisney and Don and Kathy Spellmeyer of Gentryville.

  • Paul and Margaret Goffinet celebrated their golden wedding anniversary with a Mass of Thanksgiving at St. Paul Catholic Church in Tell City Aug. 27, 2011.

    The former Margaret Kelsey and Paul Goffinet were married Aug. 26, 1961, at St. Paul Catholic Church.
    Their attendants were Margaret Hobbs and Adrian Goffinet.
    Paul and Margaret are the parents of three children, Daniel Goffinet of Tell City, Steven Goffinet of Ferdinand and the late James Goffinet.

  • Candace Robidoux and Bill Smith, both of Tell City, announce their engagement and approaching marriage.

    The bride-elect is the daughter of Marie Gillette and George Robidoux of Lakeland, Fla.
    She works at the Perry County Memorial Hospital.
    Mr. Smith is the son of Norma Smith and David Hedinger.
    He works at AK Steel.
    The ceremony is planned for 3 p.m. Saturday Oct. 29, 2011, at First Baptist Church in Tell City.
    A reception will follow at 4 p.m. at the Knights of Columbus.

  • Mr. and Mrs. Keith Lutgring of Tell City and Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Hagedorn of Tell City announce the engagement and approaching marriage of their children, Jerri Lynn Lutgring and Shawn Joseph Hagedorn.

    The bride-elect is a 2006 graduate of Perry Central High School and a 2010 graduate of the University of Southern Indiana with a bachelor’s degree in health services.
    She works as a charge analyst at St. Mary’s Medical Center in Evansville.

  • PERRY COUNTY – Daughters of Isabella Nativity Circle 710 will host a baby shower for St. Elizabeth-Coleman Pregnancy and Adoption services.
    Any new or gently used items for pregnant girls will be accepted. Members ask that gifts not be wrapped, but that a price is marked on the item. Collection boxes are located in the St. Paul Catholic Church Narthex and at the entrances to St. Pius and St. Michael Catholic churches until Oct. 16. After Oct. 16, items will be taken to St. Elizabeth’s.

  • John and Cindy Yaggi of Cannelton and Sam Trinkel of Tell City announce the engagement and approaching marriage of their children, Megan Elizabeth Yaggi and Christopher Michael Evans, both of Tell City.

    The bride-elect is a 2003 graduate of Cannelton High School and a 2006 graduate of Vincennes University with a degree in business administration and 2006 graduate of Vincennes Beauty College with a cosmetology license.
    She is a manager and hair stylist at Studio-Ten-O-One Salon and Spa in Tell City.
