  • Fun Day at Lilly Dale Church of Christ
    GATCHEL – The Lilly Dale Church, 14198 Old State Road 37 in Gatchel, will host a fun day from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday.
    All are welcome to attend. The day will include games, inflatables, face painting, a hayride, tug-of-war, sack races and more. Free hot dogs, drinks and desserts will be served.

  • PERRY COUNTY – October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month and CVS Pharmacy and Perry County Memorial Hospital encourage local residents to attend a candlelight vigil at 6 p.m. Sept. 30 at City Hall Park, Main Street in Tell City. The park will be decorated with pink ribbons.

  • Darrin and Megan James of Tell City announce the birth of their daughter, Audyn Brynna James, Friday, Sept. 14, 2012, at Perry County Memorial Hospital in Tell City.
    The infant weighed 9 pounds, 14 ounces and was 21 inches long.
    Mrs. James is the former Megan Newlin. Audyn has one older sister, Emery Lanae James, 2.
    Grandparents are Mark and Penny Newlin of Tell City and Doug and Nancy James of Tell City.

  • Chris Newton and Vanessa Sprinkle of Tell City, along with their families, announce their engagement and approaching marriage.

  • Natalie Kleemann and Richard Buckler were united in marriage during an afternoon ceremony Saturday, April 21, 2012, at St. Paul Catholic Church in Tell City.

    The bride is the daughter of Kathy Kleemann of Tell City and the late James Kleemann. She is the granddaughter of Helen Kleemann and Imogene Dauby.
    Mr. Buckler is the son of William Buckler of Siberia and Karen Buckler of Leopold. He is the grandson of Mary Beckman and Nancy Neuenschwander.

  • Kari A. Schaefer and Bryce A. Beard of Dale announce their engagement and approaching marriage.

  • TELL CITY – Miss Teen Schweizer Fest Jaylen Avallone will compete for the Indiana state pageant title in November.
    Donations of any amount would be greatly appreciated to help cover travel, food and hotel for the competition in Indianapolis.
    Checks or cash can be made out to Avallone and mailed or taken to Cinderella’s, 922 Main Street, Tell City, IN 47586. Donations must be received Oct. 1.

  • CANNELTON – In honor of the upcoming 175th anniversary of Cannelton and the city’s annual Heritage Fest, a “Life in Cannelton” photography contest for amateur photographers will be held and photos displayed at the 175th Anniversary Headquarters, 512 Washington Street in Cannelton.
    Entries will be limited to three per person with no age limits. The contest is open to any amateur photographer who has not had monetary gain from taking photos on a part- or full-time basis.
    Photos must be matted with a standard matte board and ready to hang.

  • Alexandra Lynn Scheiber and Jason Max Wilson of Terre Haute announce their engagement and approaching marriage.

  • COLUMBUS, Ga. – Army Pvt. Logan A. Gibson has graduated from basic infantry training at Fort Benning in Columbus.
    During the nine weeks of training, Gibson received training in drill and ceremonies, weapons, map reading, tactics, military courtesy, military justice, physical fitness, first aid and Army history, core values and traditions. Additional training included development of basic combat skills and battlefield operations and tactics, and experiencing use of various weapons and weapons defenses available to the infantry crewman.
