  • PERRY COUNTY – Hillary Hubert, daughter of Chris and Lora Hubert of Tell City, was chosen by Tell City American Legion Unit 213 to attend the 72nd annual session of Hoosier Girls State, June 23 through June 28 on the campus of Trine University in Angola.

    Hubert, a junior at Perry Central High School, joined approximately 612 other young women for this government program designed to educate the leaders of tomorrow in the duties, privileges, rights and responsibilities of citizenship.

  • TELL CITY – The friends and family of Larry Taylor will host a benefit auction and dance to help raise funds for medical bills and expenses.
    The event will be from 6 to 11 p.m. Sept. 14 at the Tell City American Legion Post on Indiana 66 in Tell City. Admission will be $15 per person or $25 per couple.
    There will be live music by “Good Ole Boys,” food and a cash bar.
    Cash donations may be made at Fifth Third Bank in Tell City to the “Benefit of Larry Taylor” account.
    Taylor has been diagnosed with pancreatic cancer.

  • Josh and Kristi Etienne of Leopold announce the birth of their son, Jax Donald Etienne, Sunday, March 24, 2013, at Deaconess Women’s Hospital.
    The infant weighed 7 pounds, 6 ounces and was 193/4 inches long.
    Mrs. Etienne is the former Kristi Katterhenry. Jax has one older sister, Jaylie Bell, 31/2.
    Grandparents are Debbie Katterhenry of Tell City, Rebecca Etienne of Leopold and the late Gary Katterhenry and Donald Etienne.
    Great-grandparents are Alvada Laflin, Delores Neihaus, Martha Sue Miller and Rosemary Etienne.

  • Kevin and Kathryn Hay of Cross Plains, Tenn., announce the birth of their daughter, Lilian June Hay, Monday, June 17, 2013, at Hendersonville Medical Center in Hendersonville, Tenn.
    The infant weighed 6 pounds and 13 ounces.
    Mrs. Hay is the former Kathryn Knox. Lilian has one older sibling, Alivia, 22 months.
    Grandparents are Bruce and Susie Knox of Tell City and Bill and Susie Hay of Neoga, Ill.
    Great-grandparents are Mrs. Charles Hay of Galva, Ill., and the late Orville and Clarice June Hale.

  • Kelsey Begle and Matt-hew Thomas of Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio, announce their engagement and approaching marriage.

    The bride-elect is the daughter of Ronnie and Kathy Begle of Ferdinand. She is a graduate of Heritage Hills High School and a 2012 graduate of Purdue University.
    She works at the Center for Marketing and Opinion Research in Akron, Ohio.
    Mr. Thomas is the son of Danny and Carla Thomas of Tell City and Mark and Kathy Partridge of Newburgh.

  • John and Jean Dolezal will celebrate their 50th anniversary Saturday, Aug. 3, on a dining car in the Railroad Museum at French Lick. Kathy Joaquin, the couple’s daughter, will host the celebration.

    John Dolezal and the former Jean Meagher were married at St. Augustine’s Catholic Church Aug. 3, 1953.
    They have two daughters, Kathy Joaquin and her husband, Jaime, of San Antonio, Texas, and Beth Teller and her husband, Jonathan, of Clearwater, Fla. They also have three grandchildren, Mark and Daniel Joaquin and Erin Johnson.

  • ST. MEINRAD – The third annual St. Meinrad Rocks Fest will be held Sept. 27 and 28 and will be an outdoor event this year.

  • TELL CITY – A benefit for cancer patient Erin Owen will be from 6 to 10 p.m. Friday at the Tell City Moose Lodge.
    Live music will be provided by Jeremy Luecke and Matt Schultz. T-shirts and bracelets will be sold. The event will include a live auction of items including two rounds of golf with a cart at Ben Hawes Golf Course; four rounds of golf at the Summit; two $25 gift cards to Golf Plus; several gift baskets and much more. The auction will begin at 6:30 p.m.
    Owen was diagnosed with a fast-growing breast cancer called ductal carcinoma.

  • Greg and Yvette Hendershot of Tell City announce the engagement and approaching marriage of their daughter, Britney Hendershot, to Josh Clark of Tell City, son of Gary and Vicki Clark of Tell City.

    The bride-elect is a graduate of the University of Southern Indiana with a master’s degree. While at USI, she was a resident assistant and awarded several scholarships. She works as an occupational therapist at Perry County Memorial Hospital.

  • Elaura M. Hoesli and Adam C. Haynes of Louis-ville, Ky., announce their engagement and approaching marriage.

    The bride-elect is the daughter of Ted and Maria Hoesli of Owensboro, Ky. She is a graduate of Owensboro Catholic High School and the Western Kentucky University School of Nursing.
    She works as a registered nurse at Nortons Hospital in Louisville.
    Mr. Haynes is the son of Steve Haynes of Owensboro and the late Janet Haynes.
