  • ST. MEINRAD – Saint Meinrad Archabbey’s pilgrimages to honor the Blessed Mother at the Monte Cassino Shrine have been scheduled for the Sundays in May. The pilgrimages begin with an opening hymn and a short sermon, followed by a rosary procession. The service ends with the Litany of the Blessed Virgin and a hymn. \Speakers and topics for the pilgrimages are:
    • Sunday – Novice Matthew Sprauer OSB, “Mary, Model of Hospitality”
    • May 26 – Novice Bradley Jensen OSB, “Mary, Full of Grace”

  • Students in second grade at St. Paul Catholic Church celebrated their first reception of Holy Communion April 28 at the 11:30 a.m. Mass with the Rev. Dennis Duvelius as presider.

  • Youth rally Friday at Central Baptist
    HAWESVILLE, Ky. – Central Baptist Church, Highway 60 in Hawesville, will host a Blackford Breckinridge Baptist Associational Youth Rally at 6 p.m. Friday.
    A free pizza dinner will be served. All junior- and senior-high school youth are invited to attend.

    People contributing to the cemetery fund during 2012 were:

  • CHRISNEY – A celebration of life for David Hartloff and a benefit party for his family will be held at 4 p.m. Saturday at the Chrisney Baseball Park Shelter House.

    A live band, food, raffle and silent auction, bake sale, memorial, benefit photo shoot and more will be available.
    “Come help us celebrate the life of a man who was always the life of the party. A chance for loved ones and friends to pay their last respects and help his children pay for his last expenses,” a flier for the event urges.

  • Brianna Marie Ebbinghaus and Jarrod Patrick Houghland of Plainfield announce their engagement and approaching marriage.

    The bride-elect is the daughter of Thomas and Kristi Ebbinghaus of Carmel and Robert and Stacia Zloty of Martinsville.
    She is a 2001 graduate of Martinsville High School and earned a degree in management and marketing from Lincoln Memorial University. She is employed at Rolls Royce North American Purchasing as an administrative assistant.

  • Felicia Kellems of Cannelton and Brandon Sillings of Leavenworth were united in marriage during an afternoon ceremony Saturday, May 11, 2013, in Fulda.

    The bride is the daughter of Michele and Eddie Kellems of Cannelton. Mr. Sillings is the son of Scott and Hallie Denise Sillings of Leavenworth.
    The bride was given in marriage by her father and mother during the double-ring ceremony officiated by the Rev. Harold Nix.

  • Girl Scouts honor Perry County girls at awards event
     EVANSVILLE – Girl Scouts of Southwest Indiana recognized the achievements and contributions of its members in 2012-13 at its annual Girl Awards Event, held recently at the Scottish Rite in Evansville.
    Dakota Henderson, Brittany Brumfield and Amber Schulthise, all of Tell City, received 10-Year membership pins. Sarah Allen of Derby and Katie Fuchs of Tell City were recognized as graduating seniors.

  • Lauren Braunecker and John A. Blake of Tell City, along with their parents, announce their engagement and approaching marriage.

    The bride-elect is the daughter of Mary and Clayton Billings of Tell City and Rick and Kara Braunecker of Tell City.
    She is a 2006 graduate of Tell City High School and a 2011 graduate of Western Kentucky University with a bachelor’s degree.
    She is a third-grade elementary teacher at William Tell Elementary.

  • The William Tell Developmental Preschool students took a field trip to Tell City Pretzel April 25. The children saw how the pretzels were made and got the chance to fashion their own treats.
