  • PERRY COUNTY – The American Cancer Society is seeking volunteers in Perry County to recruit fundraising teams, garner community support, coordinate logistics, plan entertainment and lend a hand to ensure the success of the 2013 Relay For Life event. Cancer survivors, caregivers, community leaders and anyone wanting to make a difference are invited to participate.

  • Community members and families gathered at Old National Bank on Main Street in Tell City Sept. 30 for the annual March of Dimes March for Babies. Two ambassador families from Perry and Spencer counties addressed the crowd before the walk down Main Street.

  • Oakwood Health Campus in Tell City held its annual Hometown Heroes celebration Sept. 26 to recognize members of the community who were everyday heroes. The small crowd gathered were given a free meal prepared by Oakwood’s cooking staff as Sarah Maddox presented heroes with their awards.

  • Free concert of Sacred Music at Monastery
    FERDINAND – Ruth Cunningham brings her classically trained musical talents and sound healing practices to the monastery church of the Sisters of St. Benedict of Ferdinand to perform “Light and Shadow: Chants, Prayers and Improvisations” at 7:30 p.m. Oct. 27 EDT.

  • ALPHARETTA, Ga. – Dr. Sarah Roberts, the former Sarah Kraus, was recently recognized as a finalist in the 2012 Answer Book best dentist category that covers north Fulton and south Forsyth in Georgia.
    Roberts office, Crabapple Dental, is located at 12670 Crabapple Road, Suite 110 in Alpharetta, Ga.
    Roberts is a graduate of Tell City High School. She is also a graduate of Purdue University School of Pharmacy and a graduate of the University of Louisville School of Dentistry.

  • LEWISPORT, Ky. – The Emmick Plantation House, a historic state landmark in Lewisport, will officially open its doors for tours and private events Saturday.

  • BIRDSEYE – Everyone is welcome to take their Dutch oven cookware, supplies, ingredients and setup for a friendly competition at Patoka’s Autumn Getaway 10th annual Dutch Oven Cook-Off from noon to 3 p.m. Saturday.
    Registration begins at noon. Cooking will begin at 12:30 p.m. and dishes will be judged upon completion. All culinary skill levels from beginner to advanced are welcome to try their hand as Dutch-oven chef.   • Erin Hagman and Jason Stoltzmann announce their engagement and approaching marriage.

    The bride-elect is the daughter of Virginia and Paul Hagman. She attended Perry Central High School and graduated from Indiana University. She is employed at C.H. Robinson in Minneapolis, Minn.
    Mr. Stoltzmann is the son of Marsha and William Stoltzmann. He is a graduate of the University of Iowa. He is also employed at C.H. Robinson.
    The wedding is planned for 4 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 10, 2012, at Fort Meyers, Fla.
    Formal invitations have been issued.

  • Kassi Uribe of Coldwater, Ohio, announces the birth of her daughter, Ebony Rayne Uribe, Saturday, Oct. 13, 2012, at Coldwater Hospital.
    The infant weighed 6 pounds, 71⁄2 ounces and was 181⁄2 inches long.
    Grandparents are Yvette Flynn and Lloyd Flynn, both of Coldwater. Great-grandparents are John and Judy Young.

  • Brandon Sabelhaus and Courtney Briggeman of Tell City announce the birth of their son, Levi William Sabelhaus, Monday, Sept. 24, 2012, at the Women’s Hospital in Newburgh.
    The infant weighed 5 pounds, 10 ounces and was 19 inches long.
    Grandparents are Dave and Kathy Briggeman of Tell City and David and Diane Sabelhaus of Bristow.
    Great-grandparents are Mary Nell Rhodes of Cannelton, Richard and Norieda Paulin of Bristow, Gertrude Sabelhaus of St. Meinrad and the late William and Leona Briggeman, Roy Rhodes and Raymond Sabelhaus.
