Today's Features

  • TELL CITY – A pageant for 2- to 8-year-old kids will be added to this year’s Schweizer Fest schedule. This pageant will be held July 5 in the Evangelical United Church of Christ. This pageant is open tot boys and girls from Perry and Spencer counties and from Hancock County, Ky.
    Applications can be picked up at Cinderella’s , 922 Main St. Tell City. Age groups will be decided once all applications are turned in. Deadline for applications for both pageants is July 2 by 4 p.m., no exceptions.

  • The last graduating class of Bristow High School, the class of 1962, met June 9 at the Patio Steakhouse for their 50th year reunion.

    All remaining graduates were present. Pictured in the front from the left are Joyce (Gehlhausen) Stallman, Ina (Kessner) Van Hoosier, Ann (Schaefer) Hoffman, Ann (VanWinkle) Sabol and Bonnie (VanWinkle) Myers. In the second row are JoElla (Lasher) Evrard, Ruth Denning, Paul Holman, Martin Holman Jr., Linus Kluesner, Edwin Denu and John Bender. Three classmates are deceased, Albert Genet, Hilbert Denu and Mary Ann (Ubelhor) May.

  • Residents recently competed in the River City Senior Games sponsored by the Southwestern Indiana Council On Aging at Oakwood Health Campus.

    Games included ball toss, ring toss, washer toss, bean-bag toss and fishing game. Gold, silver and bronze medals were awarded to the top scores in each category. Pictured is resident Clara White in the fishing competition with a SWIRCA volunteer cheering her on.

  • St. Boniface Catholic Church in Fulda held its first communion April 28.

    In the front from the left are Macey Bolin, Emma Haefling, Madelynne Elmer and Caitlynn Schipp. In the middle row are Dylan Haug, Luke Rickelman, Brody Ficker, Kort Schaefer and Jeffrey Haug.   • Bethel Christian VBS dates
    DOOLITTLE MILLS – The Bethel Christian Church in Doolittle Mills will have vacation Bible school from 6 to 8 p.m. July 16 through July 20.
    The theme is “Adventures On Promise Island.” Children of all ages including teens are welcome to attend during the week.

  • The Knights of Columbus Council 1172 recently donated funds from its annual Tootsie Roll fundraiser.

  • Toni and Matt Rayburn of Mount Juliet, Tenn., announce the birth of their twin daughters, Dylan Marie and Addie Lynn Rayburn, Monday, May 21, 2012, in Nashville, Tenn.
    Dylan weighed 6 pounds, 5 ounces and Addie weighed 6 pounds, 6 ounces. Both infants were 19 inches long.
    Mrs. Rayburn is the former Toni Greulich. The twins have two older siblings, Hadley Jo, 3, and Kaitlyn Marie, 11.
    Grandparents are Rick and Terri Greulich of Tell City and Tim Rayburn of Ashland City, Tenn.

  • Joseph and Beverly Keller of Tell City celebrated their 40th wedding anniversary June 2, 2012, at West Boggs Lake in Loogootee.

    Mr. Keller married the former Beverly Peters June 2, 1972, at St. Paul’s Catholic Church in Tell City.
    They are the parents of Susan (Jason) Martin of Ferdinand and Joseph Keller Jr. of Tell City. Their grandchildren are Eli, Owen and Isaac Martin.
    Mr. Keller is retired from Boilermakers Local 374 and Mrs. Keller is a registered nurse employed by Vista Care Hospice.

  • Nathan and Bettye Miller will celebrate their 65th wedding anniversary June 28, 2012, (today) with their family.

    Mr. Miller and the former Bettye Raaf were married June 28, 1947, at St. Paul’s Rectory in Tell City.
    The couple are the parents of Dan Miller (Joyce) of Minneapolis, Minn., Steve Miller (Laurie) of Bloomington, Beth Bosler (Gary) of Lebanon, Pa., Tim Miller (Karen) of Tell City, Greg Miller (Karen) of Boonville and Brad Miller (Connie) of Boonville. They have 18 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
