  • Caden Eric Smith
    Megan Smith and Justin Smith announce the birth of their son, Caden Eric Smith, Saturday, Sept. 24, 2011, at St. Mary’s in Evansville.
    The infant weighed 2 pounds and 13.6 ounces and was 161⁄4 inches long.
    Maternal grandparents are Robert and Mary Smith of Rockport. Paternal grandparents are John and Sherri Smith of Grandview.
    Maternal great-grandparents are Kathy Marchand of Tell City. Paternal great-grandparents are Harold and Carol Stillwell of Grandview.

  • Harold and Carolyn Craddock of Tell City plan to celebrate their 50th anniversary Dec. 16, 2011, with a family dinner.

    Mr. Craddock and the former Carolyn Seibert were married in the parsonage of Lilly Dale Church of Christ Dec. 9, 1961, with Curt and Dorothy Cronin as their attendants.
    The couple are the parents of a daughter, Kimberlen Starks and her husband, Bill. They also have two grandsons, Jordan and Matthew.

  • TELL CITY – The Tell City Lions Club nut and candy sale now under way. The club is selling five different types of nuts: pecan halves are $9.75; cashews, $9.50; almonds, $8; walnuts, $9.75 and mix nuts, $9.
    Also, the club is selling chocolate cashews for $9.25, chocolate raisins for $7, chocolate almonds for $8.50, chocolate pecans for $9.50, chocolate bridge mix for $7.25, malted milk balls for $6.50, trail mix for $6.50 and praline pecans for $9.50.   • TELL CITY – The home of Guy Neil and LaVerne Ramsey is located at 72 Park Ave. in a condominium development known as The Springs.

    It is quite evident that the Ramseys put much thought and effort into planning a home that requires low maintenance while providing a space that allows for comfortable entertaining of family and friends.
    The Springs was built in 2009 after a more than two-year planning stage. Thirteen total units comprise The Springs.

  • TELL CITY – Susan Austin has returned as the on-site manager of the Tell City Sears Hometown Store. She left that position after suffering a stroke in June 2009.

    She had managed the store for four years.
    “It feels like coming home again,” she said of her return after two years of recovery. “I’m looking forward to reuniting with old customers and meeting new customers who are moving to the area. There are plenty of sales with great prices planned for your holiday shopping needs,” she said.

  • Leroy and Janice Nugent celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary Oct. 15, 2011, with a surprise celebration hosted by their children and family at the Southern Indiana Horseman’s Club.

    Mr. Nugent married the former Janice Winchell Nov. 25, 1961, at First Baptist Church in Tell City.
    The couple has three children, Robin Ball and Kevin Nugent, both of Cannelton, and Tonya George of Tell City. They also have four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

  • The church family and friends of the Rev. Lewis and Glenna Garrett helped celebrate the couple’s 60th wedding anniversary Sunday, Nov. 13, 2011, at the Cannelton Freewill Baptist Church.

    The Garretts were married Nov. 17, 1951, in Jamestown, Tenn., by the late Rev. Willie F. Wright.
    They are the parents of two children, Kendall Garrett of Hawesville, Ky., and Bonita (Garrett) Epley of Mount Pleasant, Iowa. They also have eight grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren and four stepgreat-grandchildren.

  • Five generations of the Lemaire family gathered recently for a picture. Baby Carson X. Kirk is held by his great-great-grandmother, Rose Lamaire. Sitting next to them is Carson’s great-grandmother, Elaine Kirk. Standing are Caron’s mother, Katie Kirk and grandfather, Frank Kirk.

  • PERRY COUNTY – The Indiana Arts Commission presented state funding for organizations in a public ceremony Oct. 20 at the Jasper Arts Center to honor 10 regional organizations that were granted funding through the Indiana Art Commission’s Regional Initiative Grant program for the FY2012 funding year. Funding for this program is directed to the six-county region that includes Perry, Crawford, Daviess, Dubois, Martin and Orange counties.

  • Modern Reflections and Tell City Therapeutic Massage in Tell City ran a special through October to raise money for Breast Cancer Awareness.
