  • St. Paul fish fry set for Friday
    TELL CITY – The St. Paul parish will host an all-you-can-eat fish fry form 4:30 to 7:30 p.m. Nov. 4 at the parish hall.
    The menus will include fish, chips, macaroni and cheese, dessert and drink.
    Cost is $7 adult and $5 child for children. Everyone is invited to attend.
    Proceeds will benefit a mission trip to St. Louis in 2012.

  • TELL CITY – St. Paul Catholic Church will host a grief workshop, Exploring the Well of Grief, from 9 to 11 a.m. Saturday at the St. Paul Catholic Ministry Center on the corner of Main and Jefferson streets.
    This workshop will be lead by Sister Kathryn Huber OSB, a member of the Sisters of St. Benedict in Ferdinand.
    She will explore the themes of death and loss even as people struggle through their own grieving experiences.

  • Glen’s Cleaning service to hold winter coat drive
    TELL CITY – Glenn’s Cleaning Service in Tell City will hold a winter coat drive from Nov. 1 to Nov. 15. The business will accept donations of gently used coats, winter hats, gloves and scarves of all sizes.
    Glenn’s Cleaning Service will clean and distribute the items to those in need. Drop off bins will be located at 907 Jefferson St., in Tell City.

  • St. Paul Catholic Church celebrated the Sacrament of Confirmation, which was administered to 19 students, Oct. 16 during the 12:30 p.m. Mass by Bishop Christopher Coyne, pictured in the front row on the right, of the Archdiocese of Indianapolis. 

  • PERRY COUNTY – Thanks to the Perry County Women for Women Fund, Perry Central Community Schools and the Tell City-Troy Township School Corp. are partnering with Junior Achievement of Perry County to offer the Empowering Girls to Be Entrepreneurial after school program.
    This program is designed to educate girls about entrepreneurship – starting your own business in hope of earning a profit – and the skills and characteristics needed to be a successful entrepreneur.

  • Dominic Caden Stewart
    Ashley and John Paul Stewart of Sellersburg announce the birth of their son, Dominic Caden Stewart, Saturday, Oct. 22, 2011, at Floyd Memorial Hospital in New Albany.
    The infant weighed 8 pounds, 12 ounces and was 22 inches long.
    Mrs. Stewart is the former Ashley Coultas. Dominic has one older sister, Charlee, 3.
    Grandparents are Kevin and Markita Coultas of Hardinsburg, Ky., and Dale and Mary Stewart of Lanesville.

  • Mr. and Mrs. Carl Gunn and Mr. and Mrs. Maurice Hagedorn of Fulda will celebrate their respective wedding anniversaries Sunday, Nov. 6, 2011.

    Sixty years ago, Carl and Helen (Collignon) Gunn were united in marriage Nov. 6, 1951, in the St. Paul Catholic Church Rectory in Tell City.
    Twenty-five years later, Nov. 6, 1976, their daughter, Polly, married Maurice Hagedorn in the St. Boniface Catholic Church in Fulda.

  • TELL CITY – Tell City High School will celebrate the 100th anniversary of boys basketball Nov. 26 during the school’s game against Cannelton High School.
    The basketball program has accumulated 1,129 wins in the school’s history.
    The celebration will begin with an alumni game from 5 to 5:40 p.m., followed by a junior varsity game at 6 p.m. and a varsity game at 7:30 p.m.
    A post-game reception will be held in Tell City at a location to be determined at a later date. Watch The News for more details.
