  • Stepping Stones Preschool collected $2,100 for the St. Jude’s Children Research Hospital during its annual Trike-athon recently. The top two fundraisers in the school, Aiden Duncan and Frankie Faust, earned new bikes and helmets for their efforts. The bikes and helmets were donated by Waupaca.

  • Public invited to sing-a-long with Cannelton  UMC
    CANNELTON – Be ready to clap your hands and tap your feet with the congregation of Cannelton United Methodist Church during a sing-a-long at 3 p.m. April 21 at the church, Third and Taylor streets.
    The church will offer choral selections and there will be plenty of time to sing favorite hymns.
    Friends and family are welcome and those attending are asked to take a covered dish to share in a light supper after.

  • The annual Cannelton Legion Auxiliary Easter Egg Hunt was held March 30 at Cannelton Legion Field.

    More than 1,200 eggs stuffed with candy and food coupons were hidden for kids up to 10 years of age to find. The following were winners of the special “bicycle egg” in their categories. Pictured from the left are Danielle Wroe, 8 to 10 years old; Levi Smith, 5 to 7 years old; Wyatt Luttrell, 3 to 4 years old and Philip Royer, 0 to 2 years old.

  • Mr. and Mrs. Tom Vaal of St. Meinrad will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary Saturday, May 4, 2013. A Mass of Thanksgiving will be said at St. Meinrad Catholic Church at 2 p.m.

    An open house and reception will immediately follow at the Fulda Sportsman Club. The couple requests no gifts.

  • Vanessa Mosby and David Barger of Tell City were united in marriage during an afternoon ceremony Saturday, Oct. 20, 2012, at Tell City First United Methodist Church.

    The bride is the daughter of Scott Mosby, Belinda Ball and Shelley Mosby, all of Tell City. Mr. Barger is the son of Tim and Jenny Miller of Tell City and the late Bennie Barger.
    The bride was given in marriage by her sons, Avery and Carter Taylor during the double-ring ceremony officiated by the church’s pastor Andy Payton.

  • Mike and Natalie Johnson and Eugene and Lisa Bolin announce the engagement and approaching marriage of their children, Kailey Johnson of Troy and Nathan Bolin of Tell City.

  • Hancock County Archives in Hawesville, Ky., has moved to the first floor of the old courthouse building, which was built in 1865 and finished in 1867.

    The archives date back to 1829, when the county was formed, and includes information about Perry County couples who traveled across the river to Hawesville. These records are priceless to those who love tracing and researching ancestry, staff of the archives said. They added moving the archives to the new location will make them more accessible to everyone.

  • BLOOMINGTON – Lindsay Kast of Tell City has enjoyed a year of excitement cheering for Indiana University’s basketball, football and volleyball teams.

    In addition to cheering for the top-ranked men’s basketball team with record-breaking crowds in Assembly Hall, Kast was a member of the Crimson cheer squad that won the national championship at the 2013 UCA College National Cheer and Dance Championships Jan. 19 in Orlando, Fla.

  • Pannell, Taylor to appear at Our Father’s House of Worship
    TROY – Brother Roy Pannell with Outreach Ministry-The Way in Loogootee will give a spiritual message and Sister Cheri Taylor, a gospel singer from Lamar, will sing for the congregation today at Our Father’s House of Worship, LLC at 630 Walnut Street in Troy.
    Doors will open at 5:30 p.m. and the service will begin at 6 p.m.

  • PERRY COUNTY – Daughters of the American Revolution member Molly Hall was awarded the Sons of the American Revolution Appreciation Medal and certificate during a ceremony held March 2.

    The SAR medal of appreciation was authorized in 1960 and may be presented by the National Society or chapter to a member of the DAR in good standing in recognition of and in appreciation for outstanding services rendered to the SAR.
    Hall is the vice regent of the Lafayette Spring Chapter and a member of the Ohio Valley Sons of the American Revolution Auxiliary.
