  • OWENSBORO, Ky. – The 10:30AM service at Owensboro’s First Christian Church Sunday will be the 38th Annual Symphony Sunday.  
    In addition to the talents of Sheila Ann Miller’s choir and Phyllis Newman on organ, 16 members of the Ow-ensboro Symphony Orchestra will be an integral part of the worship service.

  • ST. MEINRAD – An exhibit of Christmas crèches from around the world will be on display in the Saint Meinrad Archabbey Library through Jan. 10.

    The display features crèches from the monastery collection, as well as from the Catherine A. Smith Nativity Collection, which was donated to Saint Meinrad in 2002 in memory of Charles Patrick “Pat” Smith.

  • PERRY COUNTY – The Perry County Chamber of Commerce, along with 11 participating businesses, announce more of this year’s Christmas Cash Giveaway winners.

  • Charles and Kelly Hubert of Tell City announce the birth of their daughter, Valerie Mae Hubert, Tuesday, Oct. 23, 2012, at the Women’s Hospital in Newburgh.
    The infant weighed 3 pounds, 15 ounces and was 17 inches long.
    Mrs. Hubert is the former Kelly Peckinpaugh. Valerie has one older brother, Nicholas, 13, and one older sister, Vanessa, 7.
    Grandparents are Charles and Edna Hubert, Michael and Beverly Peckinpaugh and Tracy Braun, all of Tell City. Great-grandparents are Louis and Doris McKim of Tell City.

  • Daniel and Natalie Cortelloni of Mount Vernon announce the birth of their daughter, Danielle Rose Cortelloni, Monday, Nov. 12, 2012, at the Women’s Hospital in Newburgh.
    The infant weighed 7 pounds, 2 ounces and was 20 1/2 inches long.
    Mrs. Cortelloni is the former Natalie Gilliland. Danielle has one older brother, Christian Anthony Cortelloni, 5.
    Grandparents are Nancy Wheeler of Troy, Mike Gilliland Sr., of Shelbyville, Ky., Gary and Melanie Cortelloni of Centralia, Ill., and the late Polly Jo Cortelloni.

  • Katie Kalin of New Albany announces the birth of her daughter, Riley Michelle Davis, Friday, Nov. 23, 2012, at Floyd Memorial Hospital in New Albany.
    The infant weighed 6 pounds, 14 ounces and was 20 1/2 inches long.
    Grandparents are John and Kathy Pyle of Tell City and Dannie and Sylvia Davis of Scottsburg. Great-grandparents are Walter and Mary Ann Lambert.

  • Sara Lynn Hess and Charles A. Hinton of Tell City were united in marriage during an afternoon ceremony Saturday, Sept. 29, 2012, at Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Tell City.

    The bride is the daughter of Rick and Rhonda Hess of Tell City. Mr. Hinton is the son of Charles and Lisa Hinton of Tell City.
    The Rev. Daniel Gadbaw officiated the ceremony.
    Jaime Hess, sister of the bride, was chosen as the maid of honor. Samantha Duncan was a bridesmaid and Jaidyn Hinton, cousin of the groom, was the flower girl.

  • Sisters of St. Benedict Christmas invitation
    FERDINAND – The Sisters of St. Benedict invite everyone to join them for their Christmas celebrations.
    Christmas Eve services at Monastery Immaculate Conception in Ferdinand will be held at 10 p.m. Dec. 24. A carol service will precede the Mass, beginning at 9:30 p.m.  Refreshments will be served in the monastery dining room immediately after Mass.
    Christmas morning Mass Dec. 25 will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. in the monastery church.

  • Businesses and organizations who were named winners of the annual Tell City Christmas parade and chili cook off received their awards Dec. 13 at City Hall. Tell City Mayor Barbara Ewing thanked the winners and all participants, who she said make the parade and cook off a success each year.

  • SPENCER COUNTY – Congratulations are given to Diana Nix of Tell City, who is the winner of the Altar Society quilt raffle.
    The Rev. Chris Forler drew the winning number at the annual Christmas luncheon Dec. 5 at Bill and Dave’s Smokin’ Pit in Tell City.
