  • Senior Pastor Nellie Hempfling and Pastor Dea Goad, along with members of the Cannelton Gospel Tabernacle Church, celebrated the church’s 45th anniversary at the current church location and 54 years as a church assembly Easter Sunday.

  • Little Pigeon Baptist to host gospel sing
    LAMAR – Little Pigeon Baptist Church, located two-tenths of a mile east of Highway 231 on 1250 N., will hold a gospel sing Saturday.
    Refreshments will be served at 6 p.m. and singing will begin at 7.
    Guest singers will be Deborah Seaton, Ben Moorelock and Gayla Leibring.
    All are welcome to attend.

  • EVANSVILLE – Cirque du Soleil will present “Quidam” for six performances from April 26 – 29 at the Ford Center in Evansville.
    Quidam, pronounced “key-dahm,” features several acrobatic acts such as aerial contortion in silk, skipping ropes, handbalancing, Duplex Trapeze, German Wheel, Spanish Web and more.
    Six musicians playing a wide variety of instruments such as the violin, cello, percussions, saxophone, electric and classical guitars and keyboard will perform original music.

  • BIRDSEYE – Have you ever wished you knew how to kayak or wanted to try it out before buying your own equipment? Join a Patoka Lake Interpretive Naturalist at the beach for a beginners kayaking lesson at 2 p.m. ET April 28. During this short lesson, participants will get to try their hands at a few different kayaks and paddles. Participants will learn what gear is needed and the best places to paddle on Patoka. All equipment including life jackets will be provided.

  • Tell City’s 2012 Wellness President Breanna Walsh, center, shows off the new shirt design for the year. The first run-walk for 2012 will be hosted by the Girl Scouts at 7 a.m. Saturday starting at the City Hall gazebo in Tell City.

  • TELL CITY – The Perry County Chamber of Commerce announces the nominations for the 2012 Chamber Award Dinner. Awards are given in four categories:  large business – ATTC Manufacturing and the City of Tell City; small business – American Colloid, Engineer Associates, New Directions Health & Fitness Club, Orscheln Farm & Home Store, Team Central Sports and Troy Clinic; entrepreneur – Domestic Goddess and Simon & Harris Construction and Applause Award – Leadership Perry County and VNA Plus.

  • Shari Everly was the March St. Paul quilt social winner. She is pictured with the quilt she won, “Shades of Pink.”  It was pieced by Jean Blue and quilted by St. Paul Quilters.

  • CANNELTON – Five members of the Woman’s Travel Club gathered April 4 for a meeting at the Cannelton Public Library with President Opal McCarthy presiding. Margaret Schank presented a history of coal mining in the Cannelton area.

  • The family of George and Geneva Gilliland surprised the couple with a lunch at Ponderosa Steak House in honor of their 61st wedding anniversary.
