  • ST. MEINRAD – The community of St. Meinrad will host is annual town-wide sales Friday, May 2, through Sunday, May 4.
    The Saint Meinrad Archabbey Gift Shop will again have yard sales all days.

    The Relay for Life team will also host a large fundraiser yard sale May 2-3 at the St. Meinrad Parish Annex building, located behind the church off of Brewery Street. Residents  will also have yard and garage sales.

    Food will be available at the St. Meinrad Legion Post 366, as well as at the Archabbey Gift Shop.

  • ST. MEINRAD – Seven seminarians studying at Saint Meinrad Seminary and School of Theology received the order of deacon Saturday from the Most Rev. Joseph Tobin, archbishop of Indianapolis.

    The newly ordained deacons are Adam Ahern, Michael Keucher and Andrew Syberg, all of the Archdiocese of Indianapolis; Gerard Carrillo and Hiep Nguyen, Diocese of Cheyenne, Wyo.; Brother Philippe Tchalou, OSB, Monastere de l'Incarnation, Togo, West Africa; and Brother Luke Waugh OSB, Saint Meinrad Archabbey.

  • Christian ladies evening at DCBC
    TELL CITY – Deer Creek Baptist Church will hold a Christian ladies evening called “Sharing a Cup of Love”  at 6 p.m. Friday, May 9, at the church. All ages are invited to attend for fun and fellowship. Guests should take a carry-in salad, dessert and a coffee cup to exchange.

    CANNELTON –  Cannelton Freewill Baptist Church will celebrate its 50th anniversary, Saturday, May 3 and Sunday, May 4.

  • April Ransom and Jamey Morris of Tell City announce the birth of their daughter, Aaryn Rene. She was delivered March 19, 2014, at the Women’s Hospital in Newburgh.

    Aaryn weighed 4 pounds, 15 ounces and was 171/2  inches long.

    Maternal grandparents are James and Ruth Ransom of St. Croix.

    Paternal grandparents are the late Tom and Peggy Morris.

    Great-grandparent is Mary Lois Ransom of Branchville.

  • Seth and Jessica Adams announce the birth of their daughter, Georgia Grace. She was delivered March 27, 2014. She weighed 8 pounds, 1 ounce and was 20 1/2 inches long. Georgia has a brother, Kennedy, 8, and a sister, Harper, 2.

    Maternal grandparents are Larry and Edna Jones of Shelbyville. Paternal grandparents are Jim and Sharla Adams of Tell City.

  • Dr. Phillip and Laura Adams of Newburgh announce the birth of their son. Luke Daniel.

    He was born Feb. 28, 2014, at the Women’s Hospital in Newburgh.

    Luke weighed 9 pounds, 1 ounce and was 201/2  inches long.

    Luke has a sister, Emily, 2.

    Mrs. Adams is the former Laura Schaefer.

    Maternal grandparents are Jerry and Phyllis Schaefer of Tell City.

    Paternal grandparents are Steve and Cheryl Adams of Evansville.

  • George and Polly Baker of Rising Sun will celebrate their 70th anniversary from 1 to 4 p.m. Saturday, May 17, 2014, at the Aberdeen Methodist Church in Bennington.

    The event will be hosted by their children, Ron Baker of Bennington, Reta Carter of Cannelton, Glenda Breeden of Spencer and Danny Baker of Carmel.

    Mr. Baker and the former Polly Smither were united in marriage May 25, 1944, in Rising Sun. The couple hasfour children, 10 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.

  • Megan Frizzell and Jason Linne were united in marriage during an afternoon ceremony Oct. 26, 2013, at Blue Heron Winery near Rocky Point.

    The bride is the daughter of Gary and Cathy Frizzell of Tell City.

    The groom is the son of Teresa Linne of Tell City and the late Paul Linne.

    The bride was given away by her father in a ceremony officiated by Justin Dauby, friend of the couple.

    Stephanie Mayfield of Tell City, friend of the couple, was chosen as matron of honor.

    Michael Dowland of Tell City, friend of the couple, was best man.
