  • Stephanie Lynne McDaniel of Bloomington and Greg Lambert of Hammond were united in marriage during an afternoon ceremony Saturday, April 5, 2014, at Lifeway Baptist Church in Ellettsville.

    The bride is the daughter of Stan and Kathy McDaniel of Bloomington and the granddaughter of Imogene Sergesketter of Tell City.

    The groom is the son of Greg and Kathy Lambert of Hammond.

    The bride was given in marriage by her parents in the double-ring ceremony officiated by the Rev. Steve Von Bokern.

  • CANNELTON - First Baptist Church in Cannelton will hold vacation Bible school from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, July 19. The theme will be "God's Team." Morning lessons will be followed by a provided lunch and an afternoon of fun and games.

    This event is open to children in kindergarten through 12th grade.

    Parents may drop children off beginning at 9:30 a.m. and all children must be picked up by 3:30 p.m. Parents will be required to sign permission slips available at drop-off or by sending email to youthrefuge2012@gmail.com.

  • CANNELTON - Mariah Cheyenne Nix of rural Cannelton graduated May 10 from Indiana University Bloomington campus.

    She earned a bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice and Political Science and minored in business.

    While at IU, Nix was a member of the Theta Phi Alpha sorority, a member of Sigma Alpha Lambda Honor Society and a three-year Indiana University Dance Marathon committee member.

    Nix was also a volunteer at the Shalom Community Center, a daytime homeless shelter serving the Bloomington area.

  • TELL CITY - Patrick Douglas Hagedorn, a 2010 graduate of Tell City High School, graduated from Ball State University May 3, 2014. He received a bachelor's in sports administration with a minor in business.

    Hagedorn served as student manager for the Cardinals football team for the past three seasons, including serving as head student field manager in 2013.

  • Emmanuel Lutheran Church's "In Gangway to Galilee" vacation Bible school was held June 6-8. During the three-day event, children learned about five different Bible accounts on the shore or on the Sea of Galilee.

    Crowds of thousands followed Jesus as he called his disciples, taught the people about their heavenly father and showed that he will keep is safe, save us and provide for all we need now and eternally."

  • St. Peter's supper, auction July 5
    LAMAR - St. Peter's United Church of Christ near Lamar will hold its annual buffet supper and picnic beginning at 4 p.m. Saturday, July 5 at the church.

    Supper will feature fried chicken, baked ham, salads, casseroles, fresh fruit and home-baked desserts. Guests will also have a chance to stroll through the grove and sample all flavors at the homemade ice-cream stand.

    A silent auction by the church youth group will also be held. All proceeds will go toward an upcoming mission trip to Haiti.

  • John and Judy Raaf of Grandview will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary Saturday, July 5, 2014.

    A Mass of thanksgiving will begin at 5 p.m. at St. Bernard Catholic Church in Rockport, followed by an open house at 6:30 p.m. at the Grandview Civic Center.

    All family and friends are invited. No gifts are requested, only the presence of guests.

    John and the former Judy Haller were married July 4, 1964, at St. Paul Catholic Church in Tell City.

    They are the parents of Julie (Kevin) Rayburn of Grandview and Joe (Erika) Raaf of Santa Claus.

  • Morgan Rainey and Andy Carter, both of Tell City, announce their engagement and upcoming marriage.

    The bride-to-be is the daughter of Rusty and Holly Rainey of Tell City.

    The groom-to-be is the son of Jerry and Tina Carter of Tell City.

    The wedding is planned for 3:30 p.m. Saturday, June 28, 2014 at First United Methodist Church in Tell City.

  • Deonna Ramires and Brannon Pittman, both of Tell City, announce their engagement and approaching marriage.

    The bride-to-be is the daughter of Beverly Rustin of Santa Claus.
    The groom-to-be is the son of John and Bonnie Pittman of Tell City.
    The ceremony is planned for 11 a.m. EDT Saturday, June 28, at the Jasper Riverwalk Gazebo in Jasper.

    A reception will begin at 5 p.m. the St. Meinrad Community Center.
    Miss Ramires is a 2012 graduate of Heritage Hills High School.
