  • Thanksgiving service Sunday at St. Paul’s

    TELL CITY – Local congregations will host their annual Thanksgiving ecumenical worship celebration at 7 p.m. Sunday at St. Paul Catholic Church. Each year the churches in the community come together to celebrate God’s blessings and presence.

  • On Oct. 5, 2013, Leah Jerden and Adam Burris were united in marriage. They pledged their vows during a sunset ceremony on Folly Beach, S.C.

    Presentation of the bride was made by her father, Darrell Jerden. Readings were given by their parents. “To Love is Not to Possess,” was read by Darrell and Pam Jerden. Eric and Trina Burris gave the “Irish Blessing.”

    Advice, “Rules for a Happy Marriage”, was given by John and Diane Wright, friends of the bride and groom.

  • Tashia Peter and Zach McCallister were united in marriage Sept. 21, 2013, during a 1:30 p.m. ceremony at St. Augustine Catholic Church in Leopold.

    The Rev. Dennis Duvelius officiated at the double-ring ceremony.
    The bride is the daughter of Mark and Janet Peter of Tell City.

    Mr. McCallister is the son of Jerry and Melissa Craig of Tell City.

    The bride was given in marriage by her father. Alisa Peter of Evansville, sister of the bride, served as maid of honor. Matron of honor was Katie Gelarden of Tell City, a friend of the couple.

  • Piano, violin concert Sunday at archabbeyST. MEINRAD – A free concert featuring piano and violin performances will begin at 3 p.m. Sunday in the St. Gregory Hall Gallery across from the Saint Meinrad Archabbey Library.

    Diane Earle, artist in residence and professor of music at Kentucky Wesleyan College and Alfred Abel, visiting artist in violin at Kentucky Wesleyan, will present the program.

  • Margaret Louise Branson of Henderson and Lealon Clifford Tapley of Huntland, Tenn., were married Aug. 24 at the home of the bride.

    Magistrate William Puttman officiated.

    The bride is the daughter of the late Jesse and Ina Trible of Tell City.

    The groom is the son of the late Ernest S. and Anna L. Tapley, also of Tell City.

    Given in marriage by her son, the bride wore a two-piece ankle-length black dress with a sheer floral overlay reaching to her fingertips.

  • James E. and Carole Jean Litherland of Tell City renewed their wedding vows during a ceremony Sept. 29, 2013, in the Fellowship Hall of Evangelical United Church of Christ in Tell City.

    Mr. Litherland’s cousin, the Rev. Ed Fruehwald of Owensboro Baptist Church, presided. He was the ring bearer in the couple’s wedding on Sept. 28, 1963. They were wed by the Rev. Henry Lippert.

  • Emily Renee Tempel and Dane Edward Wheatley were united in marriage during an afternoon ceremony Saturday, Oct. 12, 2013, at the First United Methodist Church in Tell City.

    The bride is the daughter of Patrick and Shirley Tempel of Saint Croix. Mr. Wheatley is the son of James and Sarah Wheatley of Tell City. He is the grandson of Casper and Glenda Etienne and Anna Wheatley.

    The bride was given in marriage by her father in the double-ring ceremony officiated by Rev. William Reid.

  • Claribel Abieva became the wife of Roger Prueher during an Oct. 9, 2013 wedding in Tell City.

    The bride is from San Jose in the Occidental Mindoro Province, Philippines. The groom is from Bristow.

    The couple resides in Bristow.
