  • Holy Week service schedule EUCC

    TELL CITY – Evangelical United Church of Christ will hold four special services to celebrate Holy Week.

    A Palm Sunday Service will be held March 20, at 10 a.m. in fellowship hall. A Maundy Thursday Service will be held Thursday, March 24, in the sanctuary at 7 p.m.


    Good Friday service will take place in the sanctuary March 25, at 7 p.m.

  • Tracy Rager and Jason Lindsey, both of French Lick announce their wedding March 12, 2016. The ceremony was held at 4 p.m. at the Lindsey family’s home and was officiated be Charles “Chuck” Crews.

    The Maid of Honor was Sarah Olberding of Tell City. The Best Man was Charles “Chuck” Gerron of French Lick.

    The flower girl was Maria Faith Lindsey and the ring bearer was Larry Lindsey.

  • Sarah Stetter of St. Anthony and Todd Gehlhausen of Bristow were married Oct. 3, 2015, at Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church in Schnellville. The 1 p.m. ceremony was officiated by Father Tim Tenbarge.

    The matron of honor was Andrea Welp, sister of the bride, of St. Anthony.

  • ST. MEINRAD – The Holy Week and Easter schedule for Saint Meinrad Archabbey has been set. The public is invited to join the Benedictine monks for these services in the Archabbey Church. All times are Central time.

    • Palm Sunday, March 20, 9:15 a.m., blessing and procession with palms, followed by Mass; 5 p.m.         Vespers

     • Holy Thursday, March 24, 5 p.m. Mass of the Lord’s Supper; no Vespers

  • TELL CITY – Tell City First United Methodist Church will host its sixth annual Easter egg hunt Saturday, March 26 at 10 a.m., at the Schergens Center. Hot dogs, chips, drinks and desserts will be available for a free-will offering and all donations will go to a United Methodist Youth Home in Evansville. This event is for all children and families in the community as well as the county as a whole.

  • CANNELTON – The Cannelton American Legion family will sponsor its annual Easter Egg Hunt Saturday, March 26, at 1 p.m. at Legion Field in Cannelton. The event will happen rain or shine. The event is for Cannelton Elementary students up to 10 years old.

    The age categories are 0 to 2, 3 to 4, 5 to 7 and 8 to 10. Prizes, candy and a top prize of a new bicycle for each of the four categories will be awarded. There will be a special appearance by the Easter bunny.

    Guests are encouraged to take cameras and participants must take their own containers.

  • HAWESVILLE, Ky. – The West Point Baptist Church Youth Group will sponsor a Community Yard Sale April 22 and 23, at the Hancock County Fair Grounds, in Hawesville, Ky., rain or shine. Organizers would like to invite anyone who would like a booth to set up and sell your used items.

    Booth rental inside is $10 per day and outside is $5 per day. Craft vendors are also welcome. Craft vendors will need to have an annual business license for Hancock County, which is a $10.00 charge.

  • Katlyn Elizabeth Dykes of Owensboro, Ky., and Jacob Matthew Carrico of Cannelton were married Saturday, March 5, 2016, at St. Luke’s Episcopal Church in Cannelton. The ceremony took place at 12:30 p.m., and was followed by a reception at Tell City Depot.

    The bride is the daughter of Angie and David Dykes of Cannelton. The groom is the son of Jim and Charlotte Carrico of Derby.

  • ST. MEINRAD – Saint Meinrad Seminary and School of Theology will present a Lenten cantata on Monday, March 14, in the school’s St. Thomas Aquinas Chapel.

    The service, titled “Song of the Shadows,” features music by Joseph M. Martin performed by the Saint Meinrad community. The event begins at 7 p.m. Central time; it is free and open to the public.

    Parking is available in the Guest House and student parking lots.

  • Emily Noel Sarnowski and Jeffrey Scott Kendall were joined in marriage during a ceremony in Troy Saturday, Feb. 27, at 2 p.m.

    The bride is the daughter of Tamara J. Sarnowski of Tell City and Mike Pile of Harden, Ky. The groom is the son of Elrod Kendall of Tell City and Tabitha Adkins of Crystal River, Fla.

    The maid of honor was Lala Harlan, a friend of the bride, from Tell City.

    The bridesmaids were friends of the bride, Alex Lloyd, or Fordsville, Ky., and Raven Hagen of Owensboro, Ky.
