  • Chili Supper at Troy UMC

     

    TROY – Troy United Methodist Church will hold a chili supper, complete with desserts and beverages Saturday, Nov. 5, from 4 to 6 p.m. at the church.

    The church is located on the corner of Walnut and Spring Streets in Troy.

    Join church members for a fun evening of fellowship and a free meal, free-will donations will be gratefully accepted.

  • Elizabeth “Beth” Ann James and Joseph “Joe” Edwin Parker announce their engagement and upcoming marriage.

    The bride-to-be is the daughter of Penny and Bill James of rural Cannelton and the late Curt Aders.

    She is a 1996 graduate of Perry Central High School and is employed independently as a Thirty-One consultant.

    The future groom is the son of Jane Parker of rural Tell City and the late Charles Parker Sr. He is a 1990 graduate of Perry Central High School and is employed with the Can-Clay Corp.

  • TELL CITY – Retired Pastor and Speaker Rev. Bill Reid will have a revival at the Tell City First Church of the Nazarene. Services will be Friday, Oct. 14, at 6 p.m., Saturday. Oct. 15, at 6 p.m., and Sunday, Oct. 16, at 10:30 a.m. and 6 p.m. The church is located on 17 Lausanne Court in Tell City on the hill behind Orscheln’s in Burglen Hills.

    Rev. Reid feels too often the Bible and the ways of God are presented as if they are complicated. Rev. Reid will present the simple truths of God’s Word and of salvation during these messages.

  • Scott and Kim Franchville celebrated their 25th wedding anniversary Sept. 7, 2016, spending a week in Destin, Fla., and then were honored with another celebration Sept. 17, by their children at Rome campground.

    They have three sons, Ryan (Ariel) and Evan Franchville of Derby and Tyler Franchville of Sulphur.

    Scott is employed at Waupaca Foundry as a foreman in the melt department and Kim is a childcare provider.

    Scott is the son of Peggy Franchville and the late Randy Franchville of Bristow.

  • ST. MEINRAD – Saint Meinrad Archabbey’s pilgrimages to honor the Blessed Mother at the Monte Cassino Shrine have been scheduled for the Sundays in October.

    The pilgrimages begin with an opening hymn and a short sermon, followed by a rosary procession. The service ends with the Litany of the Blessed Virgin and a hymn. Speakers and topics for the pilgrimages are:

    • Oct. 2 – Brother André DeDecker OSB, “Mary, Our Lady of the Rosary”

  • Lauren Goffinet and Brittany Roark, both of Owensboro, Ky., along with their parents, Chris and Darla Goffinet of Tell City, and Jake and Kim Russell of Russellville, Ky., announce their engagement and approaching marriage. 

    Lauren is a 2009 graduate of Tell City High School and a 2013 graduate of Kentucky Wesleyan College. She is a social studies teacher at Apollo High School in Owensboro.

  • Lydia Anne Etienne and Brandon Eric Williams, both of Magnet, announce their engagement and upcoming wedding.

    The bride-to-be is the daughter of Helen Etienne-Schipp of Tell City and the late Michael Etienne. She is a 2009 graduate of Perry Central High School and is currently employed as a veterinary assistant at Perry County Animal Hospital.

    The future groom is the son of Sherri Leimgruber-Meserve of Hawesville, Ky. and the late Eric Williams. He is a 2008 graduate of Tell City High School and attended Lincoln Tech. He is employed at Mulzer Crushed Stone.

  • Marietta Melberg of Tell City announces the engagement and upcoming wedding of her granddaughter, Megan Daugherty, to Christian Cannon of Princeton, Ky. Megan is the daughter of the late Sheila Melberg-Daugherty of Princeton. Christian is the son of Michael and Charity Cannon of Princeton.

    Megan is the granddaughter of Marietta Melberg and the late Herbert C. Melberg of Tell City and Ethel Daugherty of Owensboro, Ky.

  • Taylor L. Osborne and Dane S. Thomas, both of Grandview, announce their engagement and upcoming wedding.

    The bride-to-be is the daughter of Mandy and Dwayne Osborne and the late Annastacia Osborne of Santa Claus. She graduated from North High School and attended Ivy Tech Community College. She is employed at Best Home Furnishings.

    The future groom is the son of Renee C. and Richard S. Thomas of Grandview. He graduated from Heritage Hills High School and attended Vincennes University. He is employed at Best Home Furnishings.
