  • CANNELTON – St. Michael Church Parish Mission presents “Sacred Fire: The Passion Of God In Us.”

    The faith community of St. Michael’s in Cannelton will celebrate a four-day parish mission experience Sunday, Sept. 14 through Wednesday, Sept. 17.

    The mission will take place each evening in the parish church from 6:30 to 8 p.m.

    Father John Mark Ettensohn, originally from Perry County and a native son of St. Michael’s, will lead the mission.

  • TELL CITY – Margaret Goffinet of Perry County is now recovering at Oakwood Health Campus in Tell City, following hospitalization at St. Mary’s Health System in Evansville.

    Family and friends are welcome to visit Margaret or send well wishes, prayers and cards.

  • Kenneth and Karen Hildenbrand of Mariah Hill announce the engagement and approaching marriage of their daughter, Rachel, to Logan Leibering.

    Leibering is the son of Phil and Jeannie Leibering of Dale and Sandra Leibering of Santa Claus.

    The future bride and groom are 2005 graduates of Heritage Hills High School.

    Rachel graduated from the University of Southern Indiana and is employed at Memorial Hospital in Jasper as a radiologic technologist.

    Leibering graduated from Ivy Tech and is employed at Leibering and Sons Inc.

  • Robert and Christine Tudor of Tell City celebrated their 40th wedding anniversary June 22, 2014, at Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Tell City, where they were married June 22, 1974.

    The surprise celebration was hosted by the couple’s three children and their spouses, Ryan Tudor and wife Michelle of Hawesville, Ky.; Courtney Brown and husband Ross, and Luke Tudor and wife Rachel, all of Tell City; Christine’s sister, Jenny Anderson and Robert’s mother, Nella Tudor. Many family members and friends also attended the celebration.

  • PROSPECTIVE NEW MEMBERS are invited to attend the monthly meeting of American Legion Auxiliary Unit 213, scheduled for 7 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 20, at the post home in Tell City. The organization always welcomes women who want to learn more about the auxiliary and its work. Charlotte Lindauer will preside at the meeting. All members are encouraged to attend.

  • Little Pigeon Baptist gospel sing Saturday
    LAMAR – Little Pigeon Baptist Church near Lamar will hold a meal and gospel sing Saturday, Aug. 16, at the church.
    A meal will be served at 6 p.m. and singing by “The Montgomery Family” will begin at 7 p.m.
    All are invited and welcome.

  • Tiffani L. Vaal of St. Meinrad and Jared W. Ubelhor of Birdseye announce their engagement and upcoming marriage.

    The bride-to-be is the daughter of Jeff and Toni Vaal of St. Meinrad.

    The future groom is the son of Don and Jane Ubelhor of Birdseye.

    The wedding ceremony is planned for 1:30 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 4, 2014, at St. Martin of Tours Catholic Church in Siberia.

    A reception will take place at the Ferdinand Community Center.

  • ST. MEINRAD – Novice Dane DeDecker OSB, professed his temporary vows as a Benedictine monk in a ceremony Aug. 6 at Saint Meinrad Archabbey.

    He has com-pleted his novitiate, a year of prayer and study of the Benedictine way of life. As is the custom during the profession of vows, he was assigned a religious name. Novice Dane will now be known as Brother André.  

  • ST. MEINRAD – In a brief ceremony at the monastery entrance, Charles Peñalosa and John Avery II were clothed in the Benedictine habit Aug. 5 at Saint Meinrad Archabbey. They now begin a year of monastic formation, including study of the Rule of St. Benedict and monastic history.

    Novice Charles, 22, is a native of the Philippines. Most recently, he has been studying for the priesthood for the Archdiocese of Indianapolis, at Saint Meinrad Seminary and School of Theology.
