  • CCC banana split party Wednesday


    TELL CITY – Community Christian Church in Tell City will host its annual 50-foot banana split gathering Sept. 6. The event will kick off at 6:30 p.m. in the church at 821 10th St.

    Everyone is invited to join in this time of family fellowship.

  • Vicky and Brent Heeke of Rosenburg, Texas, announce the birth of their son, Joshua William Heeke, on July 12, 2017. Joshua weighed 8 ½ pounds and was 21 inches long.

    Maternal grandparents are David and Becky Wood of Sugarland, Texas. Paternal grandparents are Frank and Martha Heeke of Evanston.

    The mother is the former Vicky Wood. Joshua was welcomed home by his siblings, John, Daniel, Benjamin, Joseph, David, Michael, Stephen, Luke and Anna.

  • In a May 6, 2017, ceremony inside First Christian Church in Troy, Molly Houtchen and Gordon Powers were united in marriage.

    The bride is the daughter of Gary and Bertha Armes of Hardinsburg, Ky. The groom is the son of the late Charlie and Carolyn Powers.

    Jack Masterson officiated at the 4 p.m. ceremony, in which the bride was given in marriage by her father.

  • David and Julie Hakes of Tell City announce the engagement and approaching marriage of their son, Matthew David Hakes, to Tosha Michelle Gowan, daughter of Kent and Rhonda Backus of Salem.

    The future bride is a 2007 graduate of Salem High School and received a degree from Ivy Tech Community College in 2013. She is employed as an emergency medical dispatcher at American Medical Response in Evansville.

  • Mary and Roy Raider of Grandview celebrated 50 years of marriage at a surprise party, hosted by their children and their families, July 15 at the Pour Haus in Tell City.

    They were first married Aug. 26, 1967, at First Christian Church in Columbus.

    The couple has two children, Rebecca (Scott) Kasmer of Avon and John Raider of Porter, Texas.

    Grandchildren are Rayden, Ganen and Austin Kasmer and Lucas and Gabriela Raider.

    Both Mary and Roy are retired.

  • ST. MEINRAD – Saint Meinrad Archabbey will offer an icon painting workshop Oct. 8-13,  on the Archabbey grounds in St. Meinrad. Leading the workshop will be Passionist Brother Michael Moran.

    For many years, people from a variety of spiritual traditions have found themselves drawn to the mysterious and prayerful images found in the icons of Eastern Christianity.

  • Karey Goffinet and Brian Kleeman were married Saturday, July 29, 2017, in a ceremony held at Corner House Bed and Breakfast in Rockport.

    The bride is the daughter of Diana and Charlie Goffinet and Kenny Goffinet. The groom is the son of Sheila Gaynor and the late Larry “Clete” Kleeman.

    Mrs. Kleeman is a 1994 graduate of Tell City High School and is currently employed as a purchasing analyst at Masterbrand. Mr. Kleeman is a 1997 graduate from the school and serves as a journeyman linesman for the Tell City Electric Department.

  • Chris and Megan Evans of Tell City announce the birth of their daughter, Thessaly Nora Lorraine Evans. She was born June 19 at Deaconess Women’s Hospital in Newburgh. She weighed 8 pounds and 6 ounces and was 21 inches long.

    She was welcomed home by siblings Teagan, 3, and Theia Evans, 2.

    Grandparents are John and Cindy Yaggi of Cannelton, Mike Evans of Tell City and the late Sue Trinkel. Great-grandparents include Don and Barbara Coogle of Tell City, Dorris Powell of Rockport and Emory Yaggi of Cannelton.

    The mother is the former Megan Yaggi.

  • Steven and Amanda Morey of Indianapolis announce the birth of their daughter, Olivia Estelle, Friday, July 7.

    The infant weighed 8 pounds and 3 ounces and was 20 inches long. She was welcomed home by big sister, Luciana, 1.

    Her grandparents are Ed and Pam Morey of Tell City, formerly of Waupaca, Wis.

    Great-grandfather is Philip Moe of Waupaca.

  • Saundra Kvant and Todd Shearn, both of Derby, announce their engagement and upcoming wedding Sept. 23, 2017, at Twin Lakes Cedar Cabins.

    They will be married in a 2 p.m. ceremony, with a reception Schergen’s Center at 5 p.m.

    The bride’s parents are Jennifer Peter and Jody Leimgruber. The groom’s parents are Rick and Mary Kay Shearn.

    The bride-to-be is a graduate of Perry Central High School and Ivy Tech Community College. She is employed with Branchville Correctional Facility as a secretary.
