  • Derrick and Brianne Lawalin of Tell City announce the birth of their son, Cruz Robert.

    He was delivered at 5:55 a.m. Aug. 15, 2015, at Owensboro Health Regional Hospital. Cruz weighed 6 pounds, 9 ounces and was 18½ inches long.

    Mrs. Lawalin is the former Brianne Miller.

    Cruz was welcomed home by his sisters, Ilynd, 7, and Baya, 5.

    Maternal grandparents are Tim and Karen Miller of Tell City and Lavonne Miller and Gary Gogel of Santa Claus.

  • Grant and Karen LaMar of Bristow announce the birth of their son, Weston David.

    He was delivered at 11:56 a.m. Aug. 12, 2015, at The Women’s Hospital in Newburgh.

    He weighed 6 pounds, 11 ounces and was 18 inches long.

    Mrs. LaMar is the former Karen Wagner.

    Weston has a brother, Rhett, 2.

    Grandparents are Mary and David Wagner of St. Meinrad and Kim and Kevin LaMar of Leopold.

  • McKinley (Mac) and Vivian Roberts will celebrate their 74th wedding anniversary Sept. 13. 

    Mac and the former Vivian Poole were married Sept. 13, 1941, in Owensboro, Ky.



    Dragging Main! What a great idea. I am K. Jeanene Haynes Champion. In 1949, I had a 1936 Chevy with a whooptie, whoo, whoo, whistle on it.

    I moved from South Bend to Grandview after graduating in 1949. I started working at General Electric and met Mary Lou (Poehlein) Parker, Mary (Tabelman) Wilgus, Jessie (Young) Schroeder, Nita Meyers and Dot (Lasher) Kessner. My new friends and I loved to drag Main Street.

  • TELL CITY – The Daughters of Isabella are again collecting baby items for St. Elizabeth-Coleman Pregnancy and Adoption Services in Indianapolis.

    This year they are asking for disposable diapers and clothing to be used for infants. Donors are asked to leave price tags on gifts and not to wrap them.

    Donation boxes will be located in all three church parishes (St. Paul, St. Michael and St. Pius) this week through Tuesday, Oct. 20.

  • DESCENDANTS OF JOSEPH AND MARY ROGIER of Leopold will gather for a family reunion at noon Sunday, Sept. 6, at the Perry County Coon Club.

    The meal will be at noon, but arrive earlier if you would like. Table service will be provided. Take your own drinks and enough covered dishes for your family for a pitch-in dinner.


    THE FAULKENBERG FAMILY reunion is planned for Sunday, Sept. 20, at Patoka Lake Shelterhouse No. 1. A carry-in meal will be served at noon. All relatives are encouraged to attend.


  • ST. MEINRAD – Saint Meinrad Seminary and School of Theology will present the 25th annual John S. and Virginia Marten Lecture and Workshop in Homiletics Tuesday and Wednesday, Oct. 6-7, on the Saint Meinrad campus.

    This year’s lecturer is Lori Carrell, vice chancellor of the University of Minnesota, Rochester. The topic of the evening presentation is “Does Preaching Matter? A Communication Perspective.”

    The lecture will be held in St. Bede Theater from 7 until 8:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 6.

  • Jim and Chelsea McCallister of Tell City announce the birth of a son, Kooper Harold McCallister.

    He was delivered at 9:24 a.m. Jan 5, 2015, at St. Mary’s Hospital for Women and Children.

    He weighed 8 pounds, 2.8 ounces and was 20¼ inches long.

    The mother is the former Chelsea Schaaf.

    Kooper was welcomed home by a brother, Wyatt, 5, and a half sister, Lily, 10.

    Maternal grandparents are Gary and Cathy Greubel of Tell City, Paula Schaaf of Evansville and the late Jerry Schaaf.
