  • BRISTOW – The La-Grange family reunion will be held at St. Isidore’s church hall near Bristow Saturday, Aug. 29.

    Family members are asked to arrive in time to begin serving at 12:30 p.m. Central with a carry-in dinner.

    Family members should take a dish, serving utensils and drinks for their family. Plates and cups will be provided.

  • The annual Run For Your Mother 5K run-walk sponsored by American Colloid Co. in Troy raised $4,407.75 during this year’s event, which honored mothers of this year’s 239 participants. Proceeds benefit hire technology classes in Perry County high schools. The American Colloid Co. 2013 Perry County Leadership Class Career Path Fund is a designated endowment fund created by the American Colloid Co. to provide equal support to Tell City Troy Township School Corp. and Perry Central Community School District for the support of advanced manufacturing.

  • TELL CITY – Wesley Young, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Bobby Young of Tell City and Brenda Lee of Bowling Green, Ky., was recently promoted to the rank of professor at Radford University in Virginia.

    He has taught there for the past 15 years in the school’s Department of Theatre and Cinema. 

    A teacher, actor and director, Young is a graduate of Western Kentucky University and holds a masters in fine arts from the University of Alabama.

  • Jackie Schaefer and Steve Mehling will be married at 3 p.m. EDT Saturday, July 18, 2015, at St. Henry Catholic Church in St. Henry.

    Parents of the couple are Pauline Schaefer of St. Meinrad and the late Harold Schaefer and Eugene and Imelda Mehling of Ferdinand.

    The future bride is employed by the Dubois Spencer Perry Exceptional Children’s Co-op as a preschool coordinator and teacher for orthopedic impairment students. 

    The future groom is employed by Jasper Engines and Transmissions as an over-the-road truck driver.

  • TELL CITY – Pastor, author and speaker Charles S. Areson will present a program titled Struggling with Forgiveness at 6:30 p.m. July 7, 8 and 9, at Tell City First Church of the Nazarene. 

    Areson struggled deeply with the subject of forgiveness while facing serious family problems, particularly with the alleged murder of his grandmother by a serial killer.

  • Philip and Lauren Hartz of Tell City announce the birth of their daughter, Madeline Victoria.

    She was delivered at 7:42 a.m. June 15, 2015, at Memorial Hospital and Healthcare Center in Jasper. Madeline weighed 7 pounds, 3 ounces and was 20½ inches long.

    Mrs. Hartz is the former Lauren Ramsey. Madeline has a sister, Hadley, 23 months.

  • Brittney and Troy Butt Jr. of Troy announce the birth of their son, Anthony Jason.

    He was delivered June 10, 2015, at Perry County Memorial Hospital in Tell City.

    Anthony weighed 8 pounds, 8 ounces and was 21½ inches long.

    He was welcomed home by his sister, Erin, 8, and brother, Rylan, 2.

    Mrs. Butt is the former Brittney Taylor.

    Grandparents are Lester and Debbie Taylor of Tell City, Troy and Jan Butt of Evansville and Herb Piker and Cathy Pittman of Linton.

  • ST. MEINRAD – Saint Meinrad Archabbey Library Gallery is hosting an exhibit of pastels by Henderson, Ky., artist Iris Gentry.

    Gentry works on location as much as possible, overcoming the difficulties of the constantly changing light as well as the problems of wind, bugs and traffic.

    She says the brilliant colors, smells, sounds and general sensory overload provide more inspiration than any camera could begin to record.

    Although she enjoys working in a variety of mediums, this show concentrates on her work in pastels.

  • Daniel (Tom) and Selina Sims of Tell City announce the birth of their daughter, Roseanna Louanne. She was delivered June 4, 2015, at Memorial Hospital and Healthcare Center in Jasper.

    Roseanna weighed 5.15 pounds and was 19½ inches long. She was welcomed by her brothers and sisters, Trie, 18, Jasmine, 14, Johnathan, 10, Danielle, 8, Thomas, 3 and Danny, 35. Mrs. Sims is the former Selina Plock.

    Grandparents are JoAnne Plock and the late George Plock, the late Warren and Margie Sims and the late G. Elaine Plock.
