  • For the past few years, the Perry County News has published letters from county residents who have moved here or returned after years living elsewhere. These articles are submitted through the Perry County Quality of Life Committee, which operates under the Perry County Development Corp. We are presenting two letters today, from Adrien Dannemiller and Steve Berkhouse.

  • Jack and Jean (Franchville) Boyce, of Shelbyville, will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary July 30.


  • Whit and Heather Johnson of Ventura, Calif. announce the birth of their son, Whitney Adam Johnson on July 19, 2016, at 10:15 a.m.

    He weighed 6 pounds and 5 ounces and was 20 inches long.

    Grandparents are Whitney and Debra Johnson of Elkhart and Dave and Susan Smith of Canoga Park, Calif.

    The mother is formerly of Tell City.

    Holy Ghost Revival Saturday

     

    CANNELTON – Holy Ghost Revival will be in concert Saturday evening at 6 p.m. at House of Prayer. The church is located at 7498 Old State Road 237, in Cannelton. Pastor David Nix and the congregation welcome the public to attend.

     

    Southern gospel concert July 31

     

    TELL CITY – Deer Creek Baptist Church will be celebrating 195 years this Sunday, July 31.

  • PERRY COUNTY – The Lilly Dale Church of Christ will be holding a Revival meeting beginning Sunday July 31, and ending Wednesday, Aug. 3. 

    Brother Sonny Childs will be the guest speaker. Brother Sonny’s message will be “Facing the Storms of Life” from Mark 14. The Sunday morning services will include Sunday school at 9 a.m. and a worship service at 10 a.m. The evening services will begin at 7 p.m. each night. There will be a homecoming dinner following the Sunday morning service.

  • Jeri Brianne Peirce and James Hedinger of Tell City announce their engagement and upcoming wedding.

    The bride-to-be is the daughter of Elaine Peirce and the late James Peirce of Tell City. The future groom is the son of Sherrie and Charlie Davis and the late Todd Hedinger of Cannelton.

    The ceremony will take place on Aug. 20, 2016, at St. Michael Catholic Church in Cannelton at 2 p.m. The reception will follow, at the 4-H Fairgrounds.

  • TELL CITY – Erin Emerson is a winner of the 2016 Community Builders Award by Evergreen Leadership. Fifteen leaders from across Indiana received this award based on their commitment to their communities, exemplary workplace leadership, and desire to collaborate with like-minded peers.

  • Pat Koch, was recently inducted into the International Santa Claus Hall of Fame at the Discover Santa Claus Convention in Branson, Mo. Koch, the Chief Elf and Founder of the Santa Claus Museum & Village, was honored for her commitment to perpetuating the spirit of Christmas.

    She was the guest of honor at the convention, which was attended by over 800 Santas and Mrs. Clauses.

    The Steel City, home of the Pirates, Penguins and the Steelers; Pittsburgh has drawn much attention to itself as a tourist location. The location of the city at the intersection of the Ohio, Allegheny and Monongahela rivers has also brought about great attention from travelers because of both the scenic views and the swimming and boating activities along these three rivers. The present day features of this sprawling city aren’t the only things that draw tourist’s eyes.
