  • CANNELTON – The Cannelton American Legion Auxiliary is sponsoring its second annual Zombie Fest Saturday, Sept. 27, at the Cannelton Legion post home.

    Line-up will begin at 5 p.m. and a parade will begin at 5:15 p.m. Games and concessions will be available immediately after the parade. There will be concessions for sale and game tickets will be 25 cents each or five for $1. Age categories for the parade are birth to 6, 7 to 12 and 13 to adult. A first-place prize will be awarded in each category.

  • TELL CITY – The Perry County farmers market is open 8 a.m. until sellout Saturdays and 4 p.m. until sellout Wednesdays. Markets will continue through fall. Anyone wanting to learn more can call 547-7933.

  • TELL CITY – Tina Sturgeon graduated magna cum laude in May from Vincennes University with an associate’s degree from VU’s physical therapist assistant program.

    She passed the National Physical Therapist Assistant exam in July and is a licensed PTA in the state of Indiana.

    Tina is employed by Advanced Rehabilitation Inc. in Tell City.

  • Courtney May Terry and Brandon Lee Howell, both of Tell City, announce their engagement and approaching marriage.

    The bride-to-be is the daughter of Rusty Terry and Jennifer Snyder of Tell City. Mr. Howell is the son of Greg and Karen Howell of Tell City.

    The wedding is planned for 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 4, at Blue Heron Farm near Rocky Point.

    A reception will follow at the Knights of Columbus home in Tell City.

    Family and friends are invited.

  • Thomas and Barbara Baert of Tell City celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary Saturday, Sept. 6, with a dinner with family.

    Thomas and the former Barbara Costello were married Sept. 12, 1964, on Hollywood Boulevard in Hollywood, Fla.

    They are the parents of Kimberly (Andrew) Lasher of Tell City and Michelle (Michael) Runde of Cumming, Ga.

    They have two grandsons, Thomas J. Lasher and Parker A. Runde.

    Thomas retired from banking after 44 years of service. He began his career at Newburgh State Bank in Newburgh.

  • ST. MEINRAD – Saint Meinrad Seminary and School of Theology will present the 24th annual John S. and Virginia Marten Lecture and Workshop in Homiletics Tuesday and Wednesday, Oct. 7-8, on the Saint Meinrad campus. This year’s lecturer is the Rev. Donald Senior of Catholic Theological Union in Chicago. Senior is president emeritus of CTU and a professor of New Testament studies.

  • EVANSVILLE - The University of Evansville announced Blake Kleaving and Trent Wheatley, both of Tell City, graduated during UE's 156th commencement Saturday, May 10, at the Ford Center in Evansville.

    During the ceremony, the University awarded degrees to 568 graduates.

  • FULDA - The Trinity United Church of Christ in Fulda will have a rummage sale beginning at 7 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 27.

    Sale items will be fall, winter and Christmas related.

  • TELL CITY - Dorothy Kessner of Tell City attended the wedding of her grandson, Frank Rynkiewich of St. Phillips, Saturday, Aug. 23, 2014, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Evansville, with a reception at Kokies Banquet Center in Evansville.

  • WHITEWATER, Wis. - Thomas Sharpe was among the 1,488 students at the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater who earned degrees this spring.

    Sharpe, from Tell City, graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in communication.

    Students celebrated their achievements with friends and families at commencement ceremonies Saturday, May 17, in UW-Whitewater's Kachel Fieldhouse.
