  • Chris and Megan Evans of Tell City announce the birth of their daughter, Thessaly Nora Lorraine Evans. She was born June 19 at Deaconess Women’s Hospital in Newburgh. She weighed 8 pounds and 6 ounces and was 21 inches long.

    She was welcomed home by siblings Teagan, 3, and Theia Evans, 2.

    Grandparents are John and Cindy Yaggi of Cannelton, Mike Evans of Tell City and the late Sue Trinkel. Great-grandparents include Don and Barbara Coogle of Tell City, Dorris Powell of Rockport and Emory Yaggi of Cannelton.

    The mother is the former Megan Yaggi.

  • Steven and Amanda Morey of Indianapolis announce the birth of their daughter, Olivia Estelle, Friday, July 7.

    The infant weighed 8 pounds and 3 ounces and was 20 inches long. She was welcomed home by big sister, Luciana, 1.

    Her grandparents are Ed and Pam Morey of Tell City, formerly of Waupaca, Wis.

    Great-grandfather is Philip Moe of Waupaca.

  • Saundra Kvant and Todd Shearn, both of Derby, announce their engagement and upcoming wedding Sept. 23, 2017, at Twin Lakes Cedar Cabins.

    They will be married in a 2 p.m. ceremony, with a reception Schergen’s Center at 5 p.m.

    The bride’s parents are Jennifer Peter and Jody Leimgruber. The groom’s parents are Rick and Mary Kay Shearn.

    The bride-to-be is a graduate of Perry Central High School and Ivy Tech Community College. She is employed with Branchville Correctional Facility as a secretary.

  • BE Ministry trip meeting Monday

     

    PERRY COUNTY – BE Ministry and Educational Opportunities Tours will take a trip to the Holy Land through Jordan in October 2018.

    There will be an informational meeting Aug. 21, at Tell City First United Methodist church at 6:30 p.m. in the sanctuary.

  • ST. MEINRAD – In a brief ceremony, Novice Noel Zamora was clothed in the Benedictine habit at Saint Meinrad Archabbey on Aug. 5. He now begins a year of monastic formation, including study of the Rule of St. Benedict and monastic history. 

    Novice Noel, 40, most recently served as a priest of the Diocese of Lexington, Ky.

  • ST. MEINRAD – The Rev. John Kozar, a priest of the Diocese of Pittsburgh, Pa., was honored Aug. 1 with the Distinguished Alumnus Award, at the annual Saint Meinrad Alumni Reunion. He graduated from Saint Meinrad College in 1967.

    The award, given by the Saint Meinrad Alumni Association, was begun in 1990 to honor alumni who exemplify the Gospel values and have provided exemplary service in their lives or professions. The association’s board of directors reviews nominations for the award annually and makes the recommendations.

  • Jared and Tiffani Ubelhor of Birdseye announce the birth of their son, Samuel Mason Ubelhor, on May 1, 2017, at 10:42 p.m.

    He was born at Memorial Hospital in Jasper and weighed 7 pounds and 3 ounces, and was 21 inches long.

    Maternal grandparents are Jeff and Toni Vaal of St. Meinrad. Paternal grandparents are Don and Jane Ubelhor of Birdseye.

    Great-grandparents include Kenny and Mary Ann Faulkenberg of St. Meinrad, Ray and Janet Vaal of St. Meinrad and Frances Schlachter of Ferdinand.

    The mother is the former Tiffani Vaal.

  • Dorothy and Edward Hoffman will celebrate their 60-year reunion Aug. 24.

    They were married Aug. 24, 1957, in Bristow.

    The couple have five children, Ron Hoffman of West Lafayette, Vicky Hagan of Hawesville, Ky., Jane Schenk of Evansville, Jean Robinson of Orlando, Fla., and Jim Hoffman of Newburgh; and 11 grandchildren.

    Mr. Hoffman retired from Abbey Press in St. Meinrad. Mrs. Hoffman retired from Wal-Mart in Tell City. 

    Mrs. Hoffman is the former Dorothy Holman.

  • Cheyanne Meyers and Jonathan Dowell of Tell City announce the birth of their son, Noah Lee Dowell, on June 10, 2017, at Perry County Memorial Hospital. He weighed 10 pounds and 3 ounces and was 22 ½ inches long. 

    Grandparents are Tracey Reisz of Tell City, Russ Meyers of Tucson, Ariz., Susan Skeen of Cannelton and Ron Dowell of Hardinsburg, Ky.

    Great-grandparents are Jean and Martin Hall of Tell City, Marion and Rocky Rockwood of Tucson, Ariz. and James Dowell of Hardinsburg.

    Noah was welcomed home by sisters, Holly, 6, and Mariah, 5.
