  • PCJW to host bingo booth at Fourth of July picnic

    TELL CITY – The Perry County Junior Women will sponsor its annual bingo booth at the Fourth of July Picnic July 1, 2 and 3 from 6 to 10 p.m. at Zoercher-Bettinger Park.
    The cost per game will be 50 cents to play one card or $1 for three cards.
    Half-pot chance drawings will also be held every half hour.
    All players must be at least 18 years of age.
    The Perry County Junior Women’s mission is to promote the welfare of the community and its citizens through active, constructive projects.

  • PCMH Auxiliary book sale set for July 6

    TELL CITY – The Perry County Memorial Hospital Auxiliary will have its annual used book sale from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. July 6.
    It will be in the hospital near the Main Lobby. Paperback books will sell for 50 cents and hardback books for $1. All book donations will be greatly appreciated. 
    If you have any books to donate, drop them off at the hospital’s gift shop or take them to the hospital anytime after 3 p.m. Tuesday, July 5. Auxiliary members will be there Tuesday after 3 p.m. setting up for the sale.

  • Fifth annual Indiana Fallen Officers blood drive in Tell City today

    PERRY COUNTY – Sgt. Dan R. Starnes of the Morgan County, Indiana Sheriff’s Department, lost his life on July 10, 2001, as a result of gunshot wounds sustained in a gun battle with a burglary suspect four weeks earlier.
    To keep his memory alive, his surviving wife, Janice, organized the Sgt. Dan R. Starnes Memorial Blood Drive in Morgan County later that year, and has organized a blood drive each year since in Dan’s memory. In 2007 she decided to take the blood drive statewide and renamed it the Indiana Fallen Officers Blood Drive.

  • Farewell reception for Lasley set for Friday

    TELL CITY – The Tell City–Perry County Public Library staff will bid farewell to Evelyn Lasley Friday with a retirement reception from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the genealogy department of the library.
    Lasley has been working at the library since 1989.
    The public is encouraged to attend and wish her well.
