    Tractor club to meet Thursday

     

    BRANCHVILLE – The Ohio Valley Tractor Club will meet at 7 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 17, at the Branchville Conservation clubhouse.

  • Owensboro Air Show coming this weekend

    OWENSBORO, KY. – The 2015 Owensboro Air Show is set for Friday through Sunday. The U.S. Air Force Thunderbirds is the weekend’s headliner, along with the paratroop skills of the U.S. Army Special Operations Command Unit.

    Activities will begin Friday at the Owensboro Regional Airport from 4 to 8:30 p.m. Saturday and Sunday’s activities will be overhead along the riverfront from 1 to 4 p.m. The Glover Cary “Blue” Bridge  will be closed from 2 to 4 p.m. Friday, 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Saturday and 2:30 to 4:30 p.m. Sunday.

  • Medicine cabinet clean-out day Sept. 29

    PERRY COUNTY – The Perry County Substance Abuse Council, along with Tell City Police Department, Perry County Sheriff’s Department, Cannelton Police Department and the Perry County Recycling Management District will sponsor a medicine-cabinet clean-out day Saturday, Sept, 29, from 8 a.m. to noon. This year’s drop-off location is the Tell City Fire Department.

  • 48th annual Dale Fall Fest continues

    DALE – This year’s 48th annual Dale Fall Festival will begin to hit its stride today with activities through Saturday night.

    On Thursday evening, Sept. 10, beginning at 6:30 p.m., the Little Miss and Mister pageant will be held in Dale City Park.

    On Friday, the gospel group Wilson Family Singers will perform from 5 to 7 p.m.

    The band Porter Ridge will play from 8 to 10 p.m. Also on Friday, Nathan Brittingham’s High Voltage DJ Services will provide music for a street dance in front of the old EMT building from 8 to 10:30 p.m.

  • Grandview Fall Fest to offer food and fun for all comers

    GRANDVIEW – The town of Grandview will be host to a wide variety of activities and attractions this weekend as the community celebrates its 69th annual fall festival.

    As always, the event will offer visitors plenty to peruse and more to eat as game, food and flea market booths set up shop for this year’s festival.

  • Rolling Stones, Beatles tribute bands on Lincoln Amphitheatre stage Oct. 24

    LINCOLN CITY – On Saturday, Oct. 24, Lincoln Amphitheatre will pay tribute to two of the biggest bands the world has ever known as it features “Hard Day’s Night,” a tribute to the Beatles, and “Satisfaction,” the International Rolling Stones Show.

    The evening of entertainment is being presented by Indiana Michigan Power, a unit of American Electric Power.

    PERRY COUNTY – The seventh annual John Williams Memorial Ride will be held Saturday, Sept. 19. Registration is from 9 to 11 a.m. at Braunie’s Bar in Tell City. 

    All bikes out at 11 and will return by 4:30.  All vehicles welcome. 

    All proceeds will benefit the John Williams Memorial Scholarship, a scholarship of the Perry County Community Foundation. For more information, contact Joe at (812) 719-0176 or Earla at (812) 719-1012.

  • Memorial forest shooting match Oct. 4

    FULDA – Spencer County Memorial Forest’s annual shooting match is set for Sunday, Oct. 4. The ham shoot will begin at 11 a.m. and the closed match will begin at 3 p.m. First choice will be $200 cash and a $200 gift certificate to Ferdinand Processing. There will also be beef and pork choices. 

    Barbecued pork-chop and chicken dinners will be served during the day, starting at 11 a.m.

    The public is invited.

    Memorial Forest is located east of Fulda. Watch for signs along Indiana 545.

  • Blueberries topic of Sept. 15 workshop

    The Purdue Master Gardeners will host a September program at 6 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 15, at Happy Hollow Blueberry Patch in Hawesville, Ky.

    Josh McCartney will discuss how to raise blueberries successfully in southern Indiana and Kentucky. McCartney and his family started Happy Hollow Blueberry in 2009 but the first successful harvest, according to Josh, was in 2011.
