  • Chamber plans Ladies Day Out

    PERRY COUNTY – The Perry County Chamber of Commerce is coordinating a “Ladies Day Out” sales promotion.  

    The promotion is planned for Friday and Saturday, Oct. 3-4. All businesses are welcome to participate. For the event, businesses will run specials for ladies, participate in a joint ad and accept donations for local breast cancer patients. The funds will be donated to local breast cancer patients in cooperation with the Perry County Memorial Hospital.

  • Horses, petting zoo to be available to visitors at Orscheln’s Sept. 27

    TELL CITY – Horses will be on display and a petting zoo featuring miniature donkeys will be at Orscheln Farm and Home Supply 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sept. 27.

    “We’re asking people to buy feed for the horses,” said Jo Sodrel of Horse Rescue South Inc. The group is also seeking donations of hay and land on which to house horses.
    Hot dogs will be served.

  • Hancock County Airport open house Saturday

    HANCOCK COUNTY, Ky. – The fifth annual Hancock County Airport Open House will take place Saturday, Sept. 20, at 9 a.m. The day’s events will include free plane rides for kids ages 8 to 18, a kids’ balloon walk, skydivers and other fun events. Also, starting at 9 a.m., pilots will compete in a bag-drop contest and in a spot-landing competition.

  • EUCC to host ordination Sept. 28

    TELL CITY – Evangelical United Church of Christ in Tell City will celebrate the ordination of its newly called pastor, James T. Hills II, during a service at 2 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 28.

    The congregation invites the public to attend the ceremony and will host a reception and meal following the service in Fellowship Hall. To make a reservation, call 547-7059 with the number attending. The deadline for making reservations is Thursday, Sept. 18.

    TELL CITY - Sweetwater will provide musical entertainment at Twilight Towers, 1648 10th Street in Tell City Friday, Sept. 12, starting at 6 p.m. in the dining room. The public is invited.

    TROY – The annual John and Anna Strobel reunion was Aug. 10, 2014, at St. Pius Catholic Church Hall in Troy with a pitch-in dinner.

  • 80th birthday celebration planned for Eva Rose Miller

    ROME – Family and friends of Eva Rose Miller are invited to attend an open house in honor of her 80th birthday from 1 to 3 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 14, at Rome United Methodist Church in Rome. Cake and punch will be available. The family asks no gifts, only the presence of friends and family.

    THE TELL CITY CLASS OF 1966 GAL PAL lunch will be held at noon Thursday, Sept. 11, at The Patio restaurant in Tell City. (Editor’s Note: The meeting date is incorrect in the Sept. 4 print edition. The error has been corrected for the online edition.)

    THE WOMENS GUILD OF THE EVANGELICAL United Church of Christ will meet at 1 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 11. Everyone is encouraged to attend. Pizza and dessert will be served following the meeting.

  • October fall tour plans in place

    PERRY COUNTY – While it’s still the first week of September, activities and sites for next month’s Perry County Hoosier Heritage Fall Tour are in place.

    Events include Rome Courthouse Day Oct. 5 in Rome, an open house at the Rickenbaugh House on Celina Lake Oct. 11 and Cannelton’s Heritage Festival Oct. 11.

    Bristow’s big car show is set for Oct. 12 and there will be an open house Oct. 18-19 at the Shubael Little Pioneer Village.

    This year’s Route 66 Yard Sales are set for Oct. 17-18.
