  • 40 & 8 plans bingo benefit planned for Sunday

    TELL CITY – Tell City American Legion Post 213’s Forty and Eight veterans organization will raise money for nurses in training through bingo games beginning at 2 p.m. Sunday.
    The event will be held at the Legion and jackpots will include hams and turkeys. Players must be 18 years or older.
    All proceeds will go to nurses training.

  • Upcoming PC Relay for Life events in April

    PERRY COUNTY – The Perry County Relay For Life will hold two events to raise funds for the annual walk.
    The first will be a chicken-dinner sale at 10 a.m. April 7 at the corner of 12th Street and Indiana 37 in Tell City.
    The dinner will include a half chicken, creek fries and green beans. Cost will be $7. Bake-sale items will also be on sale.
    The next event will be a euchre tourney April 14 at the Leopold Conversation Center. Doors will open at 7 p.m. and cost is $5 per person.
    Cash prizes and concessions will be available.

  • Coin show Saturday

    OWENSBORO, Ky. – The River Cities Coin Club will host its sixth-annual Spring Coin Show Saturday at Daviess County High School, 4255 New Hartford Road, Owensboro, Ky.
    Hours are 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. and the public is invited. Admission is free and door prizes will be awarded.
    Up to 30 coin and paper money dealers from Kentucky, Indiana and Tennessee will display U.S. and world coins and currency for sale and trade. Many of the club members and dealers will offer free coin appraisals.

    PCHS Class of 1987 to finalize reunion plans
    LEOPOLD – The Perry Central Class of 1987 will hold an organizational meeting at 2 p.m. March 25 at Marcy’s Restaurant in Leopold.
    Everyone is invited to attend. The group will be making final plans on a date and place for the reunion.

  • Youth Conservation Corps Program at Lincoln Boyhood National Memorial

    LINCOLN CITY – Lincoln Boyhood National Memorial is accepting applications for the National Park Service Youth Conservation Corps program for the summer of 2012.
    The YCC program is a well-balanced, work-learn-earn program, which develops an understanding and appreciation of the nation’s environment and heritage. Administered by the National Park Service, the program offers gainful summer employment to young people in a healthful, outdoor atmosphere.

  • Free PCMH Screenings Thursday, March 21

    TELL CITY – Perry County Memorial Hospital will offer free blood pressure, glucose (sugar) and total cholesterol screenings. This is a free community service offered at two different locations every month. During March, a registered nurse will be at Stein’s Garage in Lamar from 8 to 10 a.m. Thursday and at Bandon Tavern from 9 to 10 a.m. March 21.
    Fasting for two hours before testing is recommended, but eight hours is preferred. Participants may drink water and take medications before the tests.
