    Karaoke at William Tell Center Friday
    TELL CITY – The William Tell Center will host a karaoke night from 7 to 10 p.m. Friday, July 18 at the center. Donnie Tindle of Crosswinds will provide the karaoke. Admission will be $5 and refreshments will be available. Everyone is welcome to attend. For more information, call 547-2714.

    VFW to sell chicken dinners Saturday

    TELL CITY – Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2939 will sell chicken dinners beginning at 11 a.m. Saturday, July 19, at the post home.

  • Family fun night planned for July 21

    TELL CITY – Lincoln Hills Development Corp. Early Head Start invites the public to attend a Family Fun Night scheduled from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Monday, July 21, at the Early Head Start Center at 321 Ninth Street in Tell City.

    SafeKids representative Toni Wenzel will be the guest speaker and the topic will be car-seat safety.

    The event will be open to parents and children birth through 3 years. Meals will be provided to all attendees.

  • CPR and rescue classes scheduled for July, August

    TELL CITY - Family and Friends CPR classes will be offered July 16. Participants may choose from one of three sessions: 9 to 11 a.m.; 1 to 3 p.m. or 5 to 7 p.m.

    - Family and Friends is designed for the lay person, 10 years and older, to learn CPR and choking-rescue skills. Ten and 11-year-olds may participate with an older sibling or adult. No testing or performance evaluation will be required. Fee is $10 for the two-hour class.


    Bethel Christian Bible school begins today
    DOOLITTLE MILLS –  Doolittle Mills Bethel Christian church vacation Bible school will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. July 7-11. This year’s theme is “Jungle Safari.” Children of all ages are welcome to attend.

    Humane Society to meet Tuesday
    TELL CITY – The Humane Society of Perry County will meet at 6 p.m. Tuesday, July 8, at Fifth Third Bank in Tell City. Everyone is welcome. For more information, call Jim Carter at 836-4842.

  • Book-signing rescheduled for Aug. 9

    TELL CITY – Area author Joan Zoglman, a lifelong resident of rural southern Indiana, has rescheduled a book signing to 10 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 9, at the Tell City Library.

    Zoglman’s writing has been published in several poetry anthologies and inspirational magazines.

    Her debut novel, “Before the Fall,” marks her entry into the genre of fiction and celebrates her freedom as both a writer and a woman.

    Set in a tight-knit, small-town community, it tells a tale of a lost love later re-encountered.

  • Local author Zoglman to hold book signing at public library Saturday

    TELL CITY – Area author Joan Zoglman, a lifelong resident of rural southern Indiana, will hold a book signing at 10 a.m. Saturday at the Perry County Public Library’s Tell City branch.

    Zoglman’s creative writing has been published in several poetry anthologies and inspirational magazines.

  • Immaculate Conception picnic Jul 12

    HAWESVILLE – Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Hawesville will host its annual barbecue picnic and flea market Saturday, July 12 at 115 Main Street in Hawesville.

    Flea market opens at 7 a.m. Pork, mutton, chicken and burgoo Sandwiches and dinners will be available and serving and carryout begins at noon. Picnic booths open at 3:30 p.m.


    • The Lautner family reunion will begin at 11:30 a.m. Saturday, July 5, at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Evanston. Everyone is asked to take a dish to share. Organizers say relatives from Iowa plan to attend again this year.

  • 4-H member Hubert elected to state Jr. Leader Council

    INDIANAPOLIS – Hillary Hubert of Tell City was elected to the 2015 State 4-H Junior Leader Council at a recent state 4-H junior leader conference at the University of Indianapolis.

    Each year, representatives from the current conference are elected by their peers to serve on the council. The council will be responsible for planning and implementing the 2015 state 4-H junior leader conference.
