  • Benefit for Metcalf held Friday, Saturday at Bear’s Place

    CANNELTON – A live-entertainment benefit for Sarah Metcalf will be held Friday and Saturday evening at Bear’s Place in Cannelton.

    Music will begin at 9 p.m. Friday with Tantrum performing, followed by headlining musicians Blackford Creek at 11:30 p.m. Saturday, 5th Degree Burn will take the stage at 9:30, followed by headliner Rooney and the Rumpshakers at 11:30 p.m.

    Music will also be provided by DJ Just a Little Bit Louder. Bear’s Place is located at 205 Washington in Cannelton.

    Twilight Towers welcomes all seniors to dance
    TELL CITY – Twilight Towers will host a Valentine’s Day dance from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. Feb. 14, in the  dining room at 1648 10th St. in Tell City. Sweetwater will perform.

    4-H open house Sunday
    PERRY COUNTY – A 4-H open house will be held from 3 to 4 p.m. Sunday at the Perry County Fairgrounds. A free movie will be shown afterward. All 4-H families and potential new members are invited to attend.

    Legion Texas hold’em Saturday
    TELL CITY – American Legion Post 213 will hold a no-limit Texas hold’em tournament Saturday at the post home.

    JOYCE DAUBY hosted her monthly bunco club Monday evening. Winners were Hazel Davis, Mary Hackel, Joyce Dauby and Pat Dyer. The next get together will be Feb. 17 with Toodie Parker as hostess.

    ALPHA PHI CHAPTER OF DELTA KAPPA GAMMA will meet at 10 a.m. on Feb. 1 at the Lincoln Heritage Public Library in Dale. The program will be Ballooning 101.

    Hostesses are: Joan Melsheimer, Joan Grose, Kelli Harpenau, and Lori Kenney.

  • Library offers help for First Family forms

    TELL CITY – The Perry County Public Library is offering assistance to anyone completing First Family forms. Forms must be completed for recognition at the Perry County Bicentennial celebration and the award of certificates and lapel pins to those of First Family heritage.

    To qualify, the family must have been in Perry County from its founding in 1814 to 1865.

  • SWCD annual meeting and dinner Tuesday

    BRISTOW – The Perry County Soil and Water Conservation District will host its 66th annual meeting Tuesday at the Bristow Community Center.

    The 6:30 p.m. meeting will begin with dinner, followed by a speaker and the election of a district supervisor.

    Cost of the meal is $5 for adults and $3 for children 12 and younger.

    4-H Club to meet Tuesday
    CANNELTON ­– The Community Service Innovations 4-H Club will meet from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at its new location at Agape Community Church, 101 Taylor St. in Cannelton.     Euchre players filled eight tables at the Bristow Community Center Wednesday evening. Jim Sprinkle took first place with 92 points. Mike Elder finished in second place with 91 points, followed by Jerry Brown in third place with 86 points. Alan Goffinet and Vern Harpeneau tied for fourth place with 84 points each. Euchre is held at 6:30 p.m. every Wednesday at the center.

    THE WILLIAM TELL CENTER will have its weekly dance at 7 p.m. Saturday at the center. The Sunshine Band will perform.

    Tell City Optimist annual chili supper Saturday
    TELL CITY– The Optimist Club Of Tell City will host its annual chili supper Saturday at the Tell City Junior-Senior High School cafeteria.  
    Serving will begin at 5 p.m. Tickets will be sold at the door. Cost is $7 and includes chili, a sandwich, drinks and homemade desserts. All proceeds support area youth programs.

    LEOPOLD – A euchre tourney is planned for Saturday at the Leopold Conservation Club. Doors will open at 6 p.m. with the first hands dealt at 7. Refreshments will be available.

    Prom and bridal expo Sunday in Ferdinand
    FERDINAND – The 12th annual Ferdinand prom and bridal expo will be held from noon to 4 p.m. EST Sunday at the Ferdinand Community Center, 1710 Community Drive, in Ferdinand.
