  • Boy Scouts fish fry Friday at St. Paul’s

    TELL CITY – St. Paul Boy Scout Troop 192 will hold their annual fish fry from 4:30 to 7 p.m. Friday at St. Paul Parish Hall, 824 Jefferson St., in Tell City.
    The menu of the all-you-can-eat meal will consist of fish, green beans, slaw, chips, bread, drink and dessert. Cost is $7 for adults and $5 for children 12 years and younger. Carry out will also be available.
    Proceeds from the fish fry will help the troop attend their summer camp, which will be at Camp McKee near Lexington, Ky., this year. The scouts invite the community out to support them.

  • Big T’s Trade Day set for March 10

    TELL CITY – The Southern Indiana Horseman’s Club will play host to the annual Big T’s Trade Day at noon, March 10. The public is invited to participate in the event.
    In the past, the event has seen some unique trading goods, organizers said, such as tools, furniture, fencing supplies, household appliances, chicken, ducks and other animals, and horse tack and supplies.
    The event will be held on the club’s property at 9455 Summer Road, Tell City. For more information or directions, call 836-2244 or 836-2127.

    Leopold to host euchre tournament
    LEOPOLD – A euchre tournament will be held Saturday at the Leopold Conservation Club.
    Doors will open at 6 p.m. with games beginning at 7.
    The public is invited to attend.

  • Animal shelter to offer TNR program in March

    PERRY COUNTY – County residents are asked to help the Perry County Animal Shelter in controlling stray cats in the area with a Trap, Neuter and Release program.
    The program is for stray cats only. Residents who are willing to capture a stray may take it to the shelter at 200 Herzeele St. in Cannelton between 5:30 and 6 a.m. March 19. For $30 per cat, a service from Vanderburgh County will have the cats spayed or neutered. Cats will be ready for pickup at 10 a.m. March 20 and then released where they were caught.

  • Rome VFD chili supper

    ROME – The Rome Volunteer Fire Department will hold a chili supper beginning at 5 p.m. March 10 at the Rome Community Center.
    A country store will be set up to sell pies, cakes, cookies, bread, candies, canned goods and more. The menu for the supper will be chili, peanut butter sandwiches, hot dogs, chips, cookies and a drink. One refill of chili will be allowed with each meal.
    There will also be a raffle and half-pot drawing.

  • Saturday carnival to help local girl with illness

    LEOPOLD – A benefit carnival will be held from noon to 4 p.m. Saturday at the Perry Central Elementary gym in Leopold to help raise funds for Lydia Haycraft.
    The Lydia’s Wish team will host the “Carnival of Fun” event with carnival-style games, food, clowns, face painting and prizes. Inflatables will be provided by Chaps, with a large selection of bounce houses, slides and obstacle courses set up that adults and children can enjoy. Concessions will be available during the event as well.

  • Breakfast to help Cannelton museum

    CANNELTON – The Tell City Ghost Hunters will host an all-you-can-eat pancake and sausage breakfast from 7 to 11 a.m. March 17 at the Cannelton American Legion.
    The cost will be $7 for adults, $4 for children 12 and under and children 3 years and younger eat for free. Proceeds from the breakfast will go toward the Perry County Museum in Cannelton.

    St. John’s Lenten worship set
    EVANSTON – St. John’s Lutheran Church in Evanston will hold Lenten worship services every Wednesday evening at 6:30 p.m. starting Ash Wednesday (Feb. 22).
    The Board of Education will serve soup and sandwiches every Wednesday evening starting at 5:30 p.m.
    The church is located 1⁄2 mile west of New Boston on County Road 1160 North. The Rev. Mile Mueller is pastor and may be reached at 547 2007 for information.  Everyone is invited to the Lenten services and meals.
