    Autograph collectors club for kids Tuesday

    TELL CITY –  Local autograph collector Glenn Markiewicz plans to form a club for kids to teach them how to write letters and fill out envelopes to be sent to their favorite celebrities.

    The first meeting is set for 5 to 8 p.m., Tuesday, March 3, in the Fifth Third Bank meeting room. Anyone interested in joining or supporting the club is encouraged to attend. For more information, call Markiewicz at (812) 619-0447. Each meeting will include a show-and-tell session.

    THE PERRY COUNTY MEMORIAL HOSPITAL Auxiliary board members will have their monthly meeting at 9 a.m. Friday, March 6, in Conference Room C at the hospital.

  • Cover crops workshop set for March 10

    PERRY COUNTY – Purdue Extension Perry County, Perry County Soil and Water Conservation District, and Perry Central Future Farmers of America are teaming up to offer a cover crops workshop March 10 at 6 p.m. at the Perry Central agriculture classroom.

    Cover crops are one of the key tools farmers have to prevent nutrient runoff and improve soil health. The Perry County Soil and Water Conservation District has grant money to aid farmers in using this tool.

  • Wine and Dine to benefit Relay For Life

     

    SPENCER COUNTY – Relay for Life of Spencer County Team Happy will host the third-annual ‘Wine & Dine’ Saturday, March 21, at the St. Meinrad Community Center.

    Wine tasting will be from 4 to 6 p.m. CST and dinner will begin at 6 p.m. The meal, catered by the New Boston Tavern, will consist of pork chops, German Fries, green beans, cole slaw and dessert.

    A $20 donation will include wine tasting and dinner; a $10 donation will include wine tasting.

  • Lake Rudolph Campground & RV Resort job fair Saturday

     

    SANTA CLAUS – Lake Rudolph Campground & RV Resort in Santa Claus will host a job fair Saturday, Feb. 28, at the Lake Rudolph office at 78 North Holiday Blvd.

    The job fair will take place from 9 a.m. to noon CST. Those interested in seasonal work this summer are invited to attend anytime during this period.

    TELL CITY – Saint Meinrad Archabbey and Abbey Press’ Relay For Life annual trivia night will be held Saturday, Feb. 28.

    Registration will begin at 6:30 p.m. CST and trivia will begin at 7 at the Archabbey Guest House and Retreat Center dining room.

    Snacks and soft drinks will be provided.

    TELL CITY – The Tell City Historical Society meeting scheduled for 6 p.m. Monday, Feb. 23, at the museum, has been canceled.

    CANCELED Historical Society to meet today

    TELL CITY – The Tell City Historical Society will meet at 6 p.m. Monday, Feb. 23, at the museum at the corner of Ninth and Franklin streets. The program, hosted by Phil and Jeanne Wittmer, is titled “Perry County Folklore and Ghost Tales.” Everyone is invited to attend. Anyone interested in joining the society may pay annual dues of $15 at the meeting.

  • EUCC Lenten events scheduled

    TELL CITY – Evangelical United Church of Christ has several events planned for the upcoming Lenten season.

    • A men’s Lenten breakfast will be held at 7 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 28, in the fellowship hall. All men in the community are welcome to come and share in fellowship and a homemade breakfast.
