    Perry County Indivisible event Tuesday

     

    TELL CITY – Perry County Indivisible group will host 8th District congressional candidate Glen Miller  Tuesday, May 16, at 6 p.m. at Perry County Public Library in Tell City.

    Topics will include recent healthcare legislation, among others.

     

    Oakwood open house May 18

     

    TELL CITY – The Villas at Oakwood will host an open house Thursday, May 18, from 2 to 5 p.m.

  • Oakwood art contest entries due by June 5

    TELL CITY – Oakwood Health Campus will hold an art competition for local artists in the community as part of a wellness event.

    Trilogy Health Services holds its annual T200 Bike Run to raise health and wellness awareness. This year, Oakwood Health Campus was chosen as the location for the finish line to the event.

    As part of the finish line festivities, an art competition is being held. It is open to all local artists and to any art media category.

  • JFK Pool opening May 31

    TELL CITY – The JFK Pool in Tell City will open Wednesday, May 31, at noon, for the 2017 summer season. Hours for opening day will be from noon to 5 p.m.

    Regular pool hours for the remainder of the season will be Monday-Saturday, 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.; Sunday, noon to 5 p.m.

    Admission will be $5 per person for anyone over 4 years of age, and 4 and under are free. Anyone under 8 years old must be accompanied by someone 13 years or older, no exceptions.

    Pool passes are available at City Hall or at the pool. The cost is $80 for a book of 20 passes.

  • Poppy program Friday-Saturday

    PERRY COUNTY – Red crepe paper poppies will be available Friday, May 12, and Saturday, May 13, at two Tell City locations, Nobles IGA and Cash Savers. The program is an annual event sponsored by members of Tell City’s American Legion 213 Auxiliary.

    Volunteers will take part in the nation-wide program in memory of the citizen soldiers who gave their lives in the cause of freedom. Funds collected on Poppy Days are used to assist veterans and their families.

    Fulda Sportsman car show May 20

     

    FULDA – The Fulda Sportsman Club in Fulda will host a Craft, Car and Tractor Show Saturday, May 20, at the Club. This will be held in conjunction with the town-wide yard sales. Craft show will be open from 8 a.m. until 3 p.m.

    Registration for the car show will be from 7 a.m. to noon, with prizes awarded at 2 p.m. No registration required for the Tractor show.

  • HAPPY TRAILS

    The Hoosier National Forest has more than 266 miles of trails. Of those, the majority of miles are shared or multiple use trails. Multiple use trails allow hikers, mountain bike riders, and horseback riders to all use the same trail system.

  • River Sweep to hit Ohio River shores in June

    PERRY COUNTY – The Ohio River Valley Water Sanitation Commission is gearing up for its 28th annual river sweep. This year’s local event is set to begin Saturday, June 17, at 9 a.m. in Sunset Park in Tell City. Volunteers will spend about three hours walking the river’s shoreline to collect as much debris and refuse as they can. In recent sweeps, each session in Perry County typically nets several hundred pounds of trash that is then properly disposed of.

    As in years past, event organizers plan to host a meal for those who participate.

    Twilight Towers yard sale Saturday

     

    TELL CITY – The Twilight Towers annual yard sale will be held on Saturday, May 13, starting at 7 a.m. in the dining room, 1648 10th St. Tell City.

    Included in the yard sale will be a biscuits and gravy breakfast, bake sale and quilt fundraiser. A full order of breakfast will be $2.50, and a half order will cost $1.25.

    German American blood drive May 31

     

    TELL CITY – German American will host a blood drive Wednesday, May 31, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the second-floor conference room in German American’s 645 Main St. location. The drive is open to the public.
