  • DAR schedules events, seeks project help

    TELL CITY - The veterans project of the Lafayette Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution has become massive and they are in need of help.

    The chapter will meet at 10 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 28, at the Tell City branch of the Perry County Public Library to discuss what needs to be done and how others can help. Currently, more than 750 Perry County veterans forms have been turned in.

  • BBBS fun run, kids dash set for Saturday, March 7

    TELL CITY – The second annual Big Brothers Big Sisters 5k walk and run and kids’ dash sponsored by Everbody’s Fitness of Tell City will be held at 8:30 a.m. March 7.

    The race theme this year will be March Madness. All participants are encouraged to dress in their favorite team’s attire. The best March Madness-themed walker or runner will get to throw a pie in someone’s face, with the walker and pie-in-the-face recipient to be announced after the race.

    Marketplace enrollment ends soon
    TELL CITY – The federal marketplace open-enrollment period will run through Feb. 15. Southwest Indiana Regional Council on Aging has certified Indiana navigators available at the Tell City branch of the Perry County Public Library every Thursday from 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. through Thursday, Feb. 12 (today) to answer questions and help with health-care enrollment.   • Benefit for Aden Gentry of Santa Claus set for Sunday

    SANTA CLAUS – A benefit is being planned for Aden Gentry, 2-year-old son of Lydia Gentry and Aaron Stephens and grandson of Mike and Paula Gentry, Sunday, Feb. 15.

    Aden has been diagnosed with neuroblastoma and will undergo treatments, including chemotherapy, radiation and a stem cell transplant at Riley’s Children’s Hospital in Indianapolis, over the course of the next year

    Proceeds from the benefit will help defray the family’s expenses.

    THE MU GAMMA CHAPTER of Beta Sigma Phi will meet for their annual Valentine’s Day party at 6 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 12 (today), at Fiesta Grande Mexican Restaurant in Tell City. Hostesses for the party will be the special events committee.

    Ladies Lenten prayer coffees
    PERRY COUNTY – The Ladies Lenten Prayer Coffees will begin Saturday, Feb. 21. All women and girls are invited to attend.
    There will be an offering taken at each session. At the final session, the group will decide which local charity will receive the offering.
    There will be light breakfast and a program at each session. All sessions will be from 9 to 10 a.m.

    EVANSVILLE – The next monthly telephone clinic that provides free legal advice and counsel is scheduled for Thursday, Feb. 5 (today). Talk To A Lawyer is a free monthly telephone clinic that allows the general public to call and ask general legal questions and receive general legal advice and counsel. Sponsored by the Volunteer Lawyer Program of SW Indiana, Indiana Bar Foundation and Evansville Bar Foundation, the program provides an opportunity the first Thursday of every month for anyone with a legal question concerning Indiana law, to call in and talk to an attorney.
